Can't access email to get 6-digit code
I can login successfully, but needs me to check 6-digit code in email.
Before immigration, login dropbox never needs me to check 6-digit code in email.
After immigration, it needs me to check 6-digit code in email. (same computer)
My email account was disabled (long time no use and I forgot the password), I can't login to my email to check the 6-digit code.
I only want to login Dropbox without check email 6-digit code, so what can I do?
Thanks
Paddy123, is there any chance you have any devices that are still linked to that Dropbox account (via a desktop/mobile app)?
If yes, please check their notifications as the one-time code may be there.
Let me know how that goes.

I've always been able to login with just email and password, but now a decade later it is wanting me to enter in a 6 digit code sent to the email associating with the account that I no longer have access to. No use contacting Google, I hardly used the email so I just wouldn't even be able to verify anything. The thought of losing all my family pictures from that time makes me ill. Do I need to get a lawyer or how do I go about verifying ownership without the email?
- Hello14Explorer | Level 4All my Photos/videos are uploded in dropbox. The mail dosent exsist anymore, and I have forgot the password. I Was logged out when i change my phone. I did a new account to get help to solve my problem. All my Photos/videos is from my girls childhood. Please help!

Without access to the email (or another device already signed in to the account) it's not possible to gain access to the account. Your best option will be to contact the mail provider and see if the email address can be reactivated.

Unfortunately, your email address is the only way to verify an account. If you no longer have access to the email address and you're being sent a verification code, you'll need access to the email address before you can gain access to the account. Your best option is to contact the mail provider and see if the email account can be reactivated.

I am trying to log into a dropbox account for a business we acquired years ago and i don't have access to the email on file to receive the verification code. Is there anyway to log into my account with two-step verification another way?

As the link Rich gave unless you have a device already logged in there isnt a way, no.

I have an account with an old email address I cant access. I remember the username and password, but Dropbox emails a code for security .... to an email I cany access. I pay $180 a year for the subscription, but can't access it. So I go to the support page for help, but can't really get help unless I sign in with an account which has a subscription. I was going to just change the associate email address and continue using it. Now I'm just thinking I might just abandon all my dropbox accounts and start using OneDrive, it would be nice if Dropbox would offer support for these type of issues.

Hey Agent V, unfortunately, without access to the email address associated with the account, there's not much we can do to help you regain access to the account.
Can you take a look at this article, to see if you can find any helpful info?
- Agent VExplorer | Level 4
I've been through the steps in the article. I was able to come up with the password on the account, now it sends a code to verify to the non working email. So I assume that there must be a way to cancel the account and make sure it never renews?
Thanks!!
- JayDropbox Staff
Hi Keyonkk, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
The 6 digit security code is used when you access the Dropbox account from a different location for security purposes.
Without access to the email address itself, it wouldn't be possible to read this code. Is it not possible to recreate the email address and attempt to login again?
This will help me to assist further!
- JayDropbox Staff
If this is what the support team requires, then you'd need to provide that information in order for them to assist you further.
Do you have the ticket ID in order to locate it on the system?

I have tried every way possible to access my account or try to get in touch with somebody to be able to access my account since the email originally used is inaccessible and the 6 digit code they send can't be used. I have the correct email and password let me in my account so I can cancel this!!!

If you're being sent a verification code when signing in, then without access to the email address you won't be able to sign in to your account. Your best option to get into the account would be to contact the email provider and see if the email address can be reactivated.
I have the correct email and password let me in my account so I can cancel this!!!If you need to cancel the billing on the account and you can't sign in, you'll need to contact Dropbox Support directly. Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
- Agent VExplorer | Level 4
Rich - That is not true, I have lost access with my account, lost all of my information because of the 6 digit code and have been unsuccessful in getting my account billing cancelled. Since its coming due, I'll probably have to just get a different card number in cancel the one on file. I've provided payment for over a years worth of service to an account I can no longer access. God forbid if you ever lose access to your email account.

when I try to use dropbox on a pc it asks me to enter a verification code in an email account that I don't have access to because it was created by a person who no longer works with us

Without access to the email address you won't be able to sign in to the account. Your best option is to contact the mail provider and see if the email account can be reactivated. If it was a company email address, your IT group should be able to easily reactivate the email account.

Where is the support on Dropbox. Cant support at all
- MeganDropbox Staff
Hi Lean5S, welcome to our Community!
Could you give me some additional details, in regards to this? Can you clarify if the email address to which Dropbox should’ve sent the 6-digit code is accessible to you?
If yes, I’d like you to check your spam folder, and let me know if the email is located there.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Without access to the email address you likely won't be able to sign in to the Dropbox account. Your best option is to work with Microsoft to reactivate your email address so you can receive the verification code. If they can't reactivate the email address, perhaps you can re-register it as a new account.

I had the same problem, my university restored my e-mail account for one week, since it has been disabled because I changed to other university, but the number code never arrives.

After moving email to MS365 servers the address connected to a dropbox account was missed by the IT team and remained dead for almost 1 year. This accont has now been created out on MS365 but it would seem that dropbox has now stopped trying deliver to this email address, no doubt due to bounced emails, so we are unable to get password reset and 6 digit code emails from dropbox to log back into the account. How can I move forward to resolve this issue ?
- MeganDropbox Staff
Hi daveginorge, let's jump right into this!
Can I send you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
Keep me posted!

when I go to login to my dropbox account, the email associated with my account has been disabled. Therefore, when I am sent the 6 digit verification code, I do not have access to it. Can I have the code sent another way?
- HannahDropbox Staff
Hey AZ13, thanks for reaching out and sorry to see you're having trouble accessing your account.
The issue is that without access to the email address associated with the account, there's no way to verify ownership of the account.
Is it possible to reach out to the email service provider, to ask them to re-enable the email?
Or can you recreate it?
- AZ13Explorer | Level 3No I’m not able to get that email back! Can I answer security questions or check that my phone is the number to send the code??

Hi, previously I have no problem login into my drobox account. However, nowadays it kept prompted me a verification code sent to a number that does not belong to me. How can I remove this verification code to access the folder? I am the admin console.

I have received notification that a 6 digit code has been sent, but I am not receiving anything. I have tried multiple times with two different accounts and nothing is being received. I cannot access my Dropbox account as a result and have been trying for almost 3 hours.
- MeganDropbox Staff
Hi NicoleK1, how are you today?
Could you try adding no-reply@dropbox.com to your contacts list and try accessing your account again? Could you also check the junk or spam folder on your email account?
Let me know more!
- NicoleK1New member | Level 2
Hi Megan,
I have tried both of those options (added no-reply@dropbox.com as a contact and checked my junk/span folder) and neither have worked. I have been sent the 6 digit code in the past (about a week or so ago), but have tried today with two separate Dropbox accounts (emails) and I have not received any notification for either accounts. Note, I tried resending multiple times and accessing through different browsers for the past 3.5 hours.

I'm trying to access my dropbox account. I'm able to type in my user and password but it's asking for a 6 digit code that was sent to an email that doesn't exist anymore so I can't get the code.
Please help.
- WalterDropbox Staff
Hey legacygt777, sorry to hear about this.
When you say the email address doesn't exist anymore, can you clarify if you're able to re-create it perhaps?
Let us know and we'll take it from there.

I do have access to that email account anymore.

- I haven't used the Dropbox account in years.
- I have a working username & pw, apparently.
- The email address on-file with DB is inoperative, belongs to a non-existent domain.
- My logon attempt results in a Code sent to the inoperative email address.
- I see the following message, telling me to check my email for the code, which is an impossible to do, since the email has been inoperative for years.
- I need to update the DB account, to change the email address, et. al. How can I logon, since I can never learn the Code that is sent?
PS: I am NOT logged on to the inaccessible DB account as I type this. My other account, this one, works fine.
Thanks!

How long ago did you last log in TNSteve ? If its over 12 months ago the account data has gone: https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/email-about-inactive-account
Even if the account data has been wiped you would still get that screen asking for a PIN to log on if needed as Dropbox does recognise you had an account.
There is no way to log on without having the email to a valid email address (however, it isn't worth it if its over 12 months since last login): https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/lost-email-access
