Dropbox Passwords app does not send notifications to allow new device
Trying to log into my Dropbox passwords app….will not send notification to any device or computer to allow log in. Something glitched in their system the other day. Logged me out of all my account. I now cannot log back in. I can log into Dropbox, but not Dropbox passwords. Notifications to allow access to Dropbox passwords is not working. No way to log back into my passwords account. Won’t allow me to log into Dropbox passwords via desktop either….so frustrating!!

Hello,
I have an issue with dropbox password.
I need to prove that I'm the good user. To do it, I need to accept a notification on firefox. But I never get this notification !
I checked the browser and all the notifications are activated.
And I did it without any trouble on my other computer.
Does somebody have an idea ?

Check “Chrome Windows” for a notification
Let’s make sure it’s you and sync any passwords you already added.
We’ll finish setting up after we get your approval on Chrome Windows.
Didn’t get it?
What the hell does this mean? I never get any notifications. So, I'm confused and can't access password.

Same as above - when I try to use dropbox passwords on my laptop - it asks me to login and then opens this page: chrome-extension://bmhejbnmpamgfnomla...
Which says:
Check "chrome windows" for a notificationLet's make sure it's you and sync any passwords you already added.
We'll finish setting up after we get your approval on Chrome Windows.Did not get it? Resent notification
But I never get a notification, ever. I have tried this for months and nothing. Does anyone know where this supposed notification would go, where can I find it, access it? Is there a way to make this work or is this just a buggy system that doesnt work with Chrome?

Hi jendavisfromca, I'd be happy to look into this for you!
Are you trying to access Dropbox Passwords on your browser, or mobile app? Also is it a new installation by any chance?
Could you send me some screenshots (without disclosing any personal info) that describe, and show what you mentioned?
Keep me posted!

the dropbox icon will show up in the log in screen but clicking on it only takes me to the "Check Chrome Windows" screen

Hi,
I have the same issue. I've bought a new phone, and tried to open the Dropbox passwords app, it say it is send a notification to my other devices which I receive, and approve, but then on the phone I get an 'Oops something has gone wrong' message and it does not log in. Super frustrating! Is there a solution for this?
- MeganDropbox StaffHello, itsjustme1.I'm sorry to hear about this. Let's see what we can find!
Do you get any errors when trying to log into your Dropbox passwords?
Also, is it asking you for the 12 recovery words?
Let me know more!- itsjustme1Helpful | Level 6
Yes, asking for words. Don't have them. Won't let me verify from any of my dropbox.com apps or from desktop. Your system glitched yesterday and logged me out of every device!

I have the same problem. I updated my version of Safari on Mac OS and Safari Passwords needed to be reverified. I got a security code which was accepted. But then had to check Safari Mac OS for a notification. Nothing received and I've tried resending. I'm still looking for the recovery codes - not sure I have them. And Dropbox Passwords is only installed on this Mac. I have the backup codes for Dropbox - are these the same?
- NancyDropbox Staff
Hey jplatts! When saying you have the backup codes for Dropbox, do you mean the recovery codes for 2FA? In this case, they’re not the same, I’m afraid.
Have you tried removing the Dropbox Passwords browser extension and installing it again? Are you still having trouble accessing your Passwords account after that?
- jplattsExplorer | Level 3
I haven't turned on 2FA. I'm referring to the recovery codes in the security settings - "Get security codes to use when you can't access your phone or email". Are these the ones I want - I'm guessing not

Hey there jplatts - thanks for clarifying that for us.
Could you maybe clear your browser's cache or try another browser and let us know if this persists?
- jplattsExplorer | Level 3
I cleared all history in Safari on my Mac. Also tried installing Chrome. No change. What happens if I uninstall the extension and then reinstall - will I still have access to all the passwords I’ve saved in the past?

Same problem. Any Dropbox Staff can help me?
