You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Export
207 TopicsAudio files are compressed/downgraded in quality when exported to iMessage.
I've noticed an issue with exporting/sharing audio files over the last few months, from Dropbox into iMessage. I often share audio files for work, and I go into the app, click share, then export file. Recently when I do this my audio files are getting compressed and severely downgraded in quality. I've also noticed file size going from 8-9mb to 2-3mb. The degrading of quality is a major problem. this bug seems to be continuing and would love to have it reported to the team!50Views0likes8CommentsBring back - EDL download for Dropbox Replay
Can we please bring back being able to export comments in EDL format. Davinci and Replay don't speak well and often direct uploads on exports fail. With EDL gone we now have no reliable way to import comments again other than manually. Thanks, Jordy13Views0likes1CommentDownload progress/status bar when using the mobile app on Android
When using the mobile app, it would be great to have a download notification/progress bar. I usually download videos which take a minute or two to download but, I am sat waiting until I see the 'Exported' notification pop up. Thaankkss!204Views1like4CommentsMissing photo from shared folder after exporting it to my mobile device
Hi, I was trying to save a photo to my phone from a shared folder. However, when I pressed the 'Save to device' button and chose the album on my phone where I wanted the picture to be saved in, the picture vanished from the dropbox folder and it didn't load to my phone either. Can the picture be restored somehow and how can I avoid this in the future?111Views0likes1CommentI can't copy and paste files into a flash drive, why?
I cannot click on individual file then copy/paste into flash drive or basically anywhere. I am not computer literate. Certain files have time sensitive info that I need to access and move immediately. DropBox use to be simple and easy to work with, now no longer. Some stupid 30-something thought they could make a better mousetrap and ignored us older folks that did not grow up with computers need help fast..........300Views0likes6CommentsExport from Dropbox Passwords
I cannot find the solution anywhere, so maybe there isn't a good answer. I would like to be able to export all of my Dropbox Passwords but the only support I can find is for importing and bringing Passwords data (generally csv file) INTO Dropbox Passwords. No information on how to export it out to a competitor.175Views0likes1CommentReplay feature request: download video with burnt-in captions
Hi Replay team, The blurb for Dropbox Replay video transcriptions feature currently reads: "You can add transcripts to video and audio files in Dropbox Replay, and create closed captions for videos. Once generated, you can edit the transcript, select a section to skip to that timestamp, and copy or share the transcripts." I believe it would also be helpful if we could add, "and download a version of a video with closed captions burnt in", or words to that effect. Essentially, the option to download the video with captions - ie what is displayed on the screen in Replay when captions are enabled. As a stretch goal, it would be helpful to have some simple formatting of the caption format (font, position, size) etc. Yes, our editors/NLEs are able to do this too, but there are good workflow/cycle reasons why it makes sense to do this in Replay: internal/external reviewers are able to review/amend transcripts here (cuts down unnecessarily feedback loops to editors who aren't necessary subject matter experts on the material); we're already generating .SRT caption files in Replay so it's ideal if they are consistent with the captions burnt into the video. Yes, best practice in many cases is to deliver clean video and an .SRT file so that the viewer/player can choose - but there are still plenty of cases where clients request versions of the video with burnt-in captions. I know that will be useful for us - anybody else here too? Thanks, David339Views1like3CommentsPrintable PDF version has different layout to the original online word document.
When printing from Microsoft Word Online, it automatically offers a downloadable PDF version of the document for printing. However, the layout/formatting of the PDF version is different to the original document. The document does not convert to a pdf that appears the same and once it is a pdf, I can not edit the formatting. The only way I can see to get a document that print to my desired formatting is by 'reverse engineering'. IE. download a copy; guess how much to change the original layout so that it will appear how I desire in the PDF version; test and adjust over multiple downloads until it is just right; then print. This seems convoluted. How can I print a word document where the formatting is not altered in a way that I can't edit?190Views0likes1CommentHow can I download data from one user to another, while retaining original timestamps?
Our community group has a DropBox account that we want to download to a different account. I know I can download the full account and copy into my own account, but we want to retain the timestamps on the documents. What are the steps to download the existing account/folders/files and move them to a new account while still retaining the original timestamps on the files?453Views0likes5Comments
