Dropbox Backup
1086 TopicsI have an encrypted exFAT external drive, but I don't see the prompt to back it up to Dropbox.
I just bought a SanDisk 2TB drive and encrypted it with their software. There is currently only about 30GB of data on it. When I plug it in, I do not get the "Do you want to back up this drive" message, tried multiple times. The drive format is exFAT and it is attached to my PC. Any suggestions on how to get it backed up to Dropbox?31Views0likes2CommentsDropbox has changed the file organization on my computer

I've recently purchased a Seagate Hard Drive and it came with a Backup plan offer from Dropbox. I have activated it and I'm backing it up as we speak, although when I go on my subscriptions page, it doesn't show me any information about this offer, it just says I have Dropbox Basic and that I'll be charged 8 Dollars a month. I can't even cancel the subscription after 6 months free offer ends. Any advice on how I can resolve this painlessly? I don't want to cancel the offer, although I don't appreciate not having the option to.35Views2likes3CommentsOneDrive backup icons for Desktop and Documents folders change to Dropbox icons on Mac
Hi everyone, I'm experiencing an issue with Dropbox on my MacBook Pro. I have my Desktop and Documents folders synced to OneDrive, but after installing Dropbox, the icons for these folders in Finder's sidebar change to the Dropbox icon. I'm not syncing these folders with Dropbox, only with OneDrive. I've been in touch with Dropbox Support, but the solutions provided so far haven't worked. Here are some of the steps I've tried: Force quitting Dropbox: Using Activity Monitor to force quit all instances of Dropbox and then restarting the app. Removing and re-adding folders: Right-clicking on the affected folders in Finder's sidebar, removing them, and then dragging them back from their original locations. Restarting Finder: Relaunching Finder after quitting Dropbox. Despite these attempts, the issue persists. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution? Thanks in advance for your help!19Views0likes1CommentI deleted a backup, but it is still using storage. Why?
Hey all, I recently deleted a backup of an old external drive from the Windows client. This should have freed up storage in my account - however, it is still using the same 608MB, even after waiting for two days. There are no files in the "Deleted files" section either. What do I have to do to free up that storage?28Views0likes2CommentsDropbox Backup and Time Machine (Mac OS)
I'm using a Mac and am backing up to an external hard drive with TimeMachine. I would also like to back up my Documents folder to the cloud. Dropbox Backup sounds good – but will Dropbox relocate my Documents folder to within the Dropbox directory? And will this prevent TimeMachine from backing it up? I want my Documents folder to stay where it is. In my User account folder. And I want to work on my files locally (not on cloud files) – and for these local files to get backed up to the cloud in the background. I've tried OneDrive and it moves the Documents folder into the OneDrive folder. OneDrive also can't cope with folder starting with a space (and I have a lot of folders on my Mac starting with a space). Will this be a problem in Dropbox?33Views0likes1CommentDropbox External Drive Backup - Changing Computers
I’ve just found out when you change Laptop / Desktop you can’t continue to use the same external hard drive with Dropbox Backup. This is absolute madness. If you want to continue to use that hard drive with Dropbox Backup you have to re upload the full HD. I have 2TB used on a 4TB external SSD and I’ve just changed to a new MacBook. I’m having to spend three days uploading / backing-up all my data again just to continue to use that same drive with the new device. What a waste of energy, electricity, data and bandwidth. For no reason. My old backup is sitting there in my account with all the same data and I just have to re-upload 2TB of the exact same files for no reason other than Dropbox can’t set up a way to re-link an external hard drive on on a new system. I can’t believe this is the current state of affairs for this service.717Views3likes15Comments
