Mac client keeps asking to turn on accessibility

I'm running Dropbox for Mac v58.4.92, and every time I log in to my machine, I get a message from Dropbox asking me to turn on accessibility:

Every time I tick 'Don't show this to me again' and then 'Not Now', but it comes back the next time I log in. What can I do to disable this message?

I have the same problem, have the right version and problem still there.  Very annoying, I don't want accessibility turned on but it seems that's the only way to stop the nmessage.

Sorry to hear that JTL1 - how are you today?

If you have successfully installed our latest stable version of the desktop application (currently 59.4.93) and still having this issue, I would suggest that you logged a ticket with our team so we can have a  look into this with all of our tools available.

Let me know if there's anything I can help with from my end in the meantime.

Uber frustrating - I’m getting the same response but it freezes my screen every time. I can’t even adjust the permissions if I wanted to!

Hey there therealsomeguy - how are you today?

Since you use macOS, you noticed requests for additional permissions, such as an authorization dialogue box requesting your computer username and password, a request to turn on Accessibility, or a request to turn on Automation.

Authorizing permissions with these dialogue boxes are required by macOS and they allow for the full functionality of Dropbox.

As per your inquiry now, I would suggest that you tried turning on "Accessibility" and then disable it should you wish not to keep it enabled - careful though as some of our features may not work as expected. These include the Dropbox badge, showing viewer info to people you share content with and better file syncing prioritization.

If you decline this request, Dropbox features may not work as expected.

Should you still wish to disable it after installation:

    1. Go to the Security & Privacy section of System Preferences.
    2. Click the Privacy tab.
    3. Click Accessibility in the menu.
    4. Click the lock icon to unlock your system preferences at which point you'll be asked to enter your computer's username and password (not your Dropbox username and password)
    5. Check the box beside the Dropbox icon to enable accessibility or uncheck to disable accessibility.
    6. Click the lock icon again to re-lock system preferences.

Give this a go for me please (i.e. enabling it and then disabling it following the steps I provided above) and let me know if this worked for you.

Thanks in advance for your reply and apologies for the lengthy reply. Oh, and happy October!

      Hi Walter,

      Thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately that didn't work - I tried enabling it, logging out, logging back in again, (didn't get the message here), disabling it, logging out and logging back in again and got the message again.

It seems it's not respecting the 'Don't show this to me again' option.

      Any other ideas?

      Thanks for your help!

Sorry to hear this persists therealsomeguy.

May I reach out to you directly via email to the email address you use for your Forum's profile to look into this together, internally and with all of my tools available?

Let me know here and we'll take it from there.

I'm having the same problem, onset since upgrading to macOS Mojave. It's exceptionally irritating. I'm well aware of why Dropbox asks for this, I simply don't need or want that functionality.

Edit:  aaaaaand... I just saw the last post indicating a fix is coming.
