Dropbox says I am running out of space, however I deleted everything and the issue remains
I am a free user. According to dropbox, I have used more than 2 gb. But I have moved all the files on dropbox to another folder and i could see that the total size of the files is only 132 mb. And also, I can see the same message that I have used more than allocated space when, in fact, there was no file of mine on dropbox. So, why is this?
Sorry to jump in here, RayhanHosain!
Do you perhaps have any computers backed up to Dropbox? You can check your backups tab to find out.
Can you please send us a screenshot of what you see on this page?

You're either a member of one or more shared folders which also take up space in your account, of you've activated the backup feature which backs up the key folders on your computer.
If you sign in to your account on the Dropbox website and view your Plan page, you'll see your actual usage. You can also see all of the files in your account from the Files page.

RayhanHosain it seems to be a common issue at the moment. I raised it over a month ago with support but the reply was that a response may take some time 😞

Why I had to see this even after moving all the things from dropbox? is this a technical problem or virus attack or cheating?

I I deleted all the files from my dropbox and it still appears that I am taking up a large part of the space that I have in my limit. What should I do?

Have you checked your Backups page?

Ah ha...
I didn't understand the backup operation. I misunderstood that my dropbox files would be backed up to an external drive I have and not that my external drive would be backed up to my dropbox space.
Thank you!

Dear All:
I have 7.75G dropbox space, and I have deleted all my files and shares.
But why the Dropbox web site still show that I havd used the starge about 5.04GB?
(But I have already deleted all my files)
So my question is how can I get my 5.04GB ? or where is the files of 5.04GB? or who can I clean all storge (like Format)?

Check your Backups page.

After repeatedly deleting and restoring files, the capacity increased dozens of times.
After that, I tried deleting all the files, but the capacity did not recover.
Could it be a bug?- HannahDropbox Staff

Same here. Very disappointed as DB offered me a sizable increase a few years back for bringing in new customers.
Now, having reduced the data on my box I'm still stuck with almost closed account and they're simply forcing me to buy increased space. My only option seems to be reverting to basic space of 2 GB. Who offers 2 GBs today? Hillareous.- HannahDropbox Staff
Hi there, Northern.
Have you checked your backups page, to see if you have any backups taking up your space?
