Dropbox Backup
1054 TopicsI changed the letters of my drives and now I get an error when deleting them from Dropbox Backup.
Hi All! I am new to the DropBox forum..... I have changed the drive letters to two of my drives that were monitored by DB. And now I can not delete those drives from my DB-backup schedule. I delete them, and they keep re-appearing after one minute, and a message saying they could not be deleted. I have tried to put the original letters back on those drives. But still not able to delete those drives. Looks like I have confused the system. LOL Does anyone have an solution to this? Is this forum monitored by experts from DropBox? Because this must be a software issue. Thanks20Views0likes5CommentsBack up doesn't give C:\ subfolders as an option
I have many working files in subdirectories in my root c:\ drive, example c:\jobs. On the backup window it only gives me the option to backup preset windows folders like \documents, \pictures \ desktop, etc. How can I have access to point at items in my c:\ when setting up a backup plan ?10Views0likes1CommentDropbox backup does not recognize my 2nd and 3rd internal hard drives.
I am trying to backup some folders from my two data hard drives installed internally on my Windows 11 computer. Dropbox isn't allowing me to choose additional hard drives within my computer, only the HDD which is used for installed programs only, no data such as documents, pictures, music, videos, project data, etc. (that choice box is grayed out) This makes backing up the folders that regularly need to be backed up impossible and makes the backup feature useless for me. Any tips on solving this mystery?51Views0likes2CommentsScheduled camera uploads
I would like to schedule my Camera Uploads so that I have a chance to remove/organize things before they're uploaded. Ideally I could have options to set either the time or frequency - i.e. 2am every day, or "any item older than 6 hours." Two examples (on android) today: Sometimes I take 2 or 3 photos in order to choose the best one and delete the others. But even if I delete them quickly, dropbox is too efficient(!) and they've already upload there, where i have to clean them up again. If I take a screenshot and then edit it to add, say pen coverage, it uploads to dropbox as 2 files, even if I save over the original locally. Often I'm annotating an image to text to someone, but don't need it backed up in dropbox at all, so I'd delete it before uoload.18Views0likes2CommentsI get an error when trying to delete my external drive backup.
When I go to back up (https://www.dropbox.com/backup/all?_tk=web_left_nav_bar) and select the external hard drive, there is a red X and the word Error under "Status", and when I click on it, it warns me that it can't back up device, and device needs to be plugged in to restart the backup process. It IS connected and visible on my Finder (I'm using MacOs 12.7.6). When I select the hard drive from Backups and choose "delete," I get another error message that says "1 item can't be deleted." This 1 item is the ONLY item in the back up, and it is clogging up my whole storage. I never asked for it to back up the external hard drive, and now I am stuck, unable to use Dropbox because I have exceeded storage. I tried to add a screenshot of the window, but it won't allow me to paste it here.Solved34Views0likes5CommentsAutomatically pause Dropbox Backup/syncing to allow unmounting of external drive.
Stop Dropbox from preventing unmounting of drives that are currently being backed up. Instead pause backup and allow unmounting. Resume backup when drive is mounted again. (Same behavior could maybe be implemented for sync (Dropbox folder), but at least for backup of external drives.) Backblaze does this, so it's clearly possible.65Views3likes6CommentsDropbox Backup won't recognize external drive on MacOS Sequoia 15.2
Hello, I cannot get my external drive to show up in the "Add a backup" section of the Dropbox Backup. I've read a bunch of posts about this issue and it seems like there is no solution. Some have said erasing and reformatting their drive worked (an absurd "solution"), but that hasn't for me. I've also done all the other suggestions that Dropbox support and others have put forth to no avail. Is there really no fix for this? Apparently people have been having this problem for years now. Thanks for any info or help.97Views0likes11CommentsMoving files on my desktop to the trash deletes them immediately instead.
I am running Dropbox Backup. On MacOS, when I drag a file on my desktop to the trash, it is deleted automatically. In other words, it does not appear in the trash in case I want to recover it later. I get a warning that says "This item will be deleted immediately. You can't undo this action." When the same file is in any other folder or location on my computer besides the Desktop, and I drag it to the trash, the behavior is normal - the files goes into the trash where I can see it and recover it if need be. I am running Dropbox Backup on Sequoia 15.2 on a 2020 M1 Macbook Air. Any thoughts?45Views0likes7Comments
