iOS Files App Favorites Folder Disappear

On both my iPad and my iPhone, when I mark a folder from Dropbox or any other cloud service as a “Favorite”, it shows up in my favorite list in the Files app, but if I switch apps or close the files app, when I reopen it, the folder disappears from the favorites list.

    Experiencing the same issue.

I also cannot "Unfavorite" Dropbox folders that I previously added to "Favorites". So the is appears that the Files app sees them as "Favorites" even though I am not able to access them via the shortcut menu. Not sure if this is an iOS issue or a Dropbox issue but it is frustrating for my daily workflow.

I am also having the same issue. It seems that Dropbox integration and support for Favorites folders is not directly supported by Dropbox using iOS. I tried this using iOS 13.3 and latest dropbox, and either Dropbox has dropped that support or iOS refuses to recognize Dropbox favorites.

Other Favorite folders implementation from iOS-Files, Such as Google Drive and iCloud Drive are not affected by this issue.

I gave up and am now using a great substitute that works exactly as I need: Documents by Readle.

    Hi FrankieT!

Could you please clarify if you're referring to starring files by any chance? Are you seeing any errors before or after they disappear? A screenshot (excluding personal info) of the behavior you're experiencing would also be very helpful so as to have a better understanding of your concern.

    Thanks in advance!

I actually have a screen recording from my phone which shows the exact problem.  But to re-clarify.  When I find a folder that I would like to put into the favorites list, I mark it as a favorite and it appears in the list.  If i get out of the files app and go anywhere else, when I get back in, it is no longer shown in the favorites list.

its When I favorite a folder by using a long click and selecting favorite

If you go back to the main files app screen, it lists all you cloud services, then your favorites, then your tags.

When you first favorite the folder it appears in the favorite list; when you close the app and reopen, it no longer shows in the favorite list. Favorited Folders from iCloud Drive will remain, but any other cloud service folders disappear

I had the same problem and with input from apple support tech, I figured out how to get around issue and all is good.

First, move the Dropbox (or any other cloud-based folder) into the favorites of the files app. THEN, click edit at the top and uncheck Dropbox. Minimize and then unminimize the files app; click edit and reconnect Dropbox again. Magically whatever you inserted into favorites you will immediately see populate. This also works if you want to change the positioning of a folder within favorites. Just move the folder in favorites to the position you want (for example at the top or bottom of the list) by clicking on edit, etc. Then go through the same process listed above.

I’ve had the same issue since day one and on ios 13.1 it still remains. This is a bug that has never been fixed. Really irritating. Any fix soon?

The total lack of urgency in resolving this problem is incredibly frustrating. This has been a problem since the Files app first launched two years ago, and nothing has been done to improve the situation. As iOS/iPadOS has become more capable, the Dropbox folder favoriting has not become worse, but it has become more annoying, since I can do so many other things on my iPad now.

Furthermore, this is an issue that is bound to frustrate the heaviest (highest-paying) Dropbox users the most, as they are the ones who would benefit most from better organization of their Dropbox content.

If I only used Dropbox for sync, I would have left years ago.

It is still happening - but I just found a way to "fix" it...

for me, not only were the dropbox folders disappearing from ios file "favorites" - when long press the folder in dropbox (or in file manager) the folder appeared to still be marked as a favorite - and I could not UNfavorite it.

Anyway - instead I just dragged the folder back over the Faviorites section - and it appeared.

so - problem "solved" or at least worked-around.
