    Hey folks ( office11 & chriscsullivan)!

Thanks for reporting this problem here. Without you, other customers could've experienced the same issue.

I have already relayed all the details of your problem to our engineering team. From this point onwards, they’ll evaluate the problem and work toward a solution.

I can’t say exactly how long this will take, however, I’ll keep a close watch on the team’s progress and I will let you know more info as soon as I have an update.

Thanks for your diligence and patience in regards to this matter and enjoy the rest of your day!

  • Hey alarson and all, thanks for reporting this.

To provide some background, this doesn't affect the performance of your Dropbox desktop application. However, we're aware that this Google Chrome notification causes confusion and we have confirmed that this will be resolved in a future version (v69) of Chrome.

In the meantime, you can open up another tab in Chrome and close the tab with the notification. Alternatively, you can install the beta version of Chrome from https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel.

We'll post any important updates about this issue in this forum thread.

Sometime around 11/17, Google announced some changes which were to be similar to Windows Edge behavior concerning code injections.  Beginning with Chrome 66, crashes due to code injections by Windows software into the browser would generate a warning to update or remove such software.  This would continue through the current relaease of Chrome 68.  Chrome 69 (due out 9/4/2018 at last update) will block the software from injecting code into Chrome processes.  If blocking is unsuccessful, the warning will still be shown after Chrome restarts and allows injection. The following Chrome 72 won’t show any warning and code injecting will always be blocked.  This seems to indicate Chrome is being developed to deal with what it perceives as bad code injections, so the application vendors will still need to address what is causing the originating issue Chrome is alerting everyone to since by Chrome 72 they will simply be blocked.  In other words, Chrome 69 will not fix the issue, but it will help better control or mask it, and by 72 it will be blocked for working in Chrome.  This is my 2 cents and interpretation of the information across various online sites, and I am not affiliated with Google, nor do I possess any additional inside information.  I'm just a Dropbox customer who ran across some extra info to pass along which may or may not be helpful as this problem seems to be escalating.

Yes Chrome became very unstable the moment I loaded Dropbox. It is more stable now I removed the installer program but still is crashing without any warning and frequently. Why? I have no idea unless there is some bad programming and both programs are using the same memory locations.. or one of the programs is not scrubbing the memory locations when it clears that space? (thats usually the cause so a programmer told me..

    )

Is there an update on this issue yet? The warning came on today when I restarted my computer.

I'm now in this group too...

Seems like DROPBOX support is going to need to make contact with GOOGLE and get an answer...

And please stop saying to use another browser.

I have all my stuff set up to run out of Chrome and even multiple profiles for different business I participate with.

Maybe a remote session to a user's WS to drill into the settings, registry, etc...

      Please post a solution soon.

      Thank you.

Jeff-C-SFL; if you read three posts up, you see it's going to be fixed in Chrome v69. Current (as of today) official release is 68. You either have to wait a bit, or update Chrome to beta channel.

@dropbox team; Win10-64, nb_NO locale, Chrome 68.0.3440.106; happens in my end as well. Think it even prevented me from restoring a session after Chrome crashed (the "restore previous session" was sort of hijacked so I had to recover manually).

Dropbox was updated on August 28, 2018 to this version: 56.4.94 and it keeps crashing Chrome from time to time.  Chrome Error Message for crash says Dropbox is causing and the app must be uninstalled. So I did.  Now I no longer have the same problem. That is why I am writing this conversation.  Any solution?

Do you experience this issue with any other browser, when using incognito/private browsing, and when you’re not running any browser extensions?

A screenshot of any error message or the behavior you’re experiencing (omitting any personal info) would also help in understanding your concern better.

      Thanks in advance!

Nothing happened with Window Edge and Firefox Mozilla.  Once I uninstalled the Dropbox app, no longer I had any crash with Chrome.  Want me to reinstall the Dropbox app and see what happens?

    Hi all.
I have a Win10 PC and Chrome told me Dropbox is NOT compatible.
    - I have two choice : keeping un-compatible Dropbox app on my PC and hoping all things will go on well (!!!)
    - Uninstall Dropbox from PC.

    Really?!

note : I do not use Tablet mode on this PC

Thank you all for helping me.

I recently began getting an error message from Chrome indicating that dropbox is incompantible and wanting me to update the Dropbox program. When I attempt to update from the same error message screen- the only option is to uninstall.  I have looked for an update - but dropbox is supposedly "automatically updating".  I have tried the tips to identify what version of dropbox is running - but none have worked so I don't even know what version is currently operating and therefore whether it is up to date. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall for fear of losing files shared with others.

Hey there office11 - sorry to hear this.

As we've been getting such reports for a while now, I moved your post here to keep things neat.

Take a look at what other users posted about this Chrome specific error and if there's anything further I can do from my end to help, please let me know.

In the meantime, have a lovely week ahead!

PS: You can always use another browser other than Chrome till there's a fix rolled out. I know it's not optimal yet I sure hope it helps to some extent.

Unfortunately that is not an option for me as this is my work computer and all our email is setup through google chrome - so it isn't an option not to be using Chrome on a daily basis.  Therefore the incompatability is a huge problem as it is making Chrome unstable.
