Photo albums disappeared

Hi
Can somebody please help me as all my Albums not files have disappeared.
I have hundreds of pictures stored in these albums and need them back?
Look for to hearing back from people

  • Hey Martyn, sorry to jump in here, but I just want to clarify that we have recently made a change to the Dropbox Android mobile application that has removed the "Albums" from the Photos tab. This change didn’t remove photos or videos you’ve uploaded to the app.

You can still find your uploaded photos and videos in the Photos tab or at  dropbox.com/photos

For this and more common fixes for the Android app, you can check out this Help Center article

    I hope this helps!

    Hi,

so I used the Albums feature of the Dropbox App very intensively, it was just perfect.

Suddenly it disappeared. The Support told me, that, well it was turned down.

My lots of albums? Are gone.
My hours of work? Are gone.
When did it happen? of course two days after they charged another year of dropbox.

So my really fancy idea is: Bring back the Albums and never again just deactivate such a feature without telling the customers!

If that is not possible, I will need to look for an other cloud operator. Maybe you can suggest one?

Thank you very much in advance.

For me it's a disaster. If they don't bring it back, I have to rebuild the Albums for days in different provider and let Dropbox back. I don't can understand a decision like that!

over 3000 photos of my deceased dog is gone, my big brother's funeral, my mom's funeral, my son's friend (turned 17) funeral, my sons pictures, and much more are gone, I have cried so much. Can only hope that Dropbox reintroduces the albums as they were before they were removed ... do not know what I do if the photos are gone forever ... SHAME DROPBOX!

Nancy, in the short term we users have the problem that Dropbox, without warning, has deleted the albums, we have been left without our albums, in which we have been storing our photos for years - and please don't tell us that the photos are still available, they have not been deleted, of course not! But in the long run, the problem is that Dropbox will lose many customers because of the arrogance of their behaviour and many potential customers will go to other providers that offer more reliability than Dropbox. So it is not me who needs more votes, the underlying problem is with you, not me, I have a choice but you have someone in the management of the company who is wrong in his current position to make such a decision and in such a despicable way towards his customers. This arrogance is nothing new in companies, every X time it repeats itself, just as it will repeat its result, when Dropbox starts doing damage, "We made a mistake, we apologize, blah, blah, blah, blah..." the person responsible for such a bad decision is changed, the damage is done and many affected people will have gone to another provider. I'm sorry for Dropbox, I was a fan, today I'm a user who will be leaving soon.

In case some day Dropbox decides to listen... Maybe 2-3 years ago, I was shopping for additional on-line photo storage. I recall looking at Dropbox and determining that it really doesn't care about photos, just files. I've been happily using Google Photos. Even OneDrive has albums. I have space there too. Just this week, I received a promotional 50% off for one year from Dropbox. This is attractive, so I looked at the DropBox features. Of course, I could not find any notion of photo albums, just directories of files. Then I found this forum. DropBox had the feature and dropped it. Now, I know Google has done this repeatedly: introduce a feature then drop it. But Google warns well in advance their intentions. It was bad enough that DropBox dropped the album feature, but it appears that they gave no notice. I get it, sometimes a company has to make difficult business decisions, but don't screw your existing customer base in the process. At least without warning them in advance.

Without warning, the albums feature disappeared.  I've been using Dropbox since 2006, and have been a paying customer for the last several years, using it for business photos. I depended on the albums feature to find photos quickly for projects I was working on.  Without that feature, I now have to scroll through thousands of photos to find the one I want...

Why would the company think taking the albums feature away (without warning, I might add again) was a good move?

I've been on the forum and have seen many, many unhappy customers for the reasons I outlined above.  Most changes occur to improve a site, this change certainly did not.

DROP BOX ALBUM FEATURE..........More than this complaint i want an actual answer/response and justification as too why the Album feature has been removed, I HAVE PAYED FOR THE PRIVILEGE FOR OVER 10 YEARS IF YOU REMOVE A SERVICE I EXPECT TO KNOW WHY.......ALSO the answer I don't want is you still have your photo's. For me this ALBUM feature was priceless, I literally could go on and on abt this issue to the end of days but ultimately I just want to know why ??????????? ( yes I have tried direct contact but this feature doesn't seem to gooking exist either) and how can I go to another provider and transfer all my pics, I am useless and not tech savvy in the slightest, though I did know how to use the album feature.
Further explanation as follows, I posted on fb not long ago patience is running out now, PLEASE HELP

    DROP BOX ALBUMS......
If you know you know, f****** b*******, can not for love or money spk to anyone that can help with this problem. Googled and googled and researcherd but feck all help.
Photo's are precious, they last a life time, memories don't, unfortunately most minds are not equipped to hold this information forever no matter how memorable or precious and even if you can, nothing can compare to looking at pics and videos 10 years ago, 6 months, or 2 minutes down the line . Just My opinion.
Me and my family have experienced loosing pictures(no back up in them days) in a house fire, I've had my phone stolen and over the years misplaced videos or memory sticks e.c.t I accept my responsibility for that and acts out of my/our control.
Then drop box appeared, been using this app since 2012 and paying from £7.00 to now £9.99 p/m for the last 10 years, a few months ago I noticed the album feature had dissapeared without any prior warning and still to now, absolutely no explanation as to why/ what has happened what so ever. ( so much going on at that time, it was upsetting but couldnt deal with it at the time) That is months and months of sorting over the last 10 + years of the thousands and thousands of photo's I have acquired and put into albums. Not only has the album feature disappeared but also all of my hundreds of saved albums for all the most loved and treasured moments, dates, years and precise moments being saved. I except human error but this is not the case, they have purposely with no reason or explanation that I can find or have been told, removed this feature, which I'm sure as they are an international company, and earning millions has also affected millions of people.
My family and friends that I know do not use drop box so only reason I'm posting this us in hope that somebody may know or can help to get these albums back or has any idea how to transfer them to a different platform, sorry if terminology is rubbish but hope someone understands what I'm talking abt and can help.🙏😘 xx

... as I understand it, Dropbox absolutely removed both the "Albums" TAB and this functionality AT ALL ??? This is such an utter game that there are no words! Excuse me, what do your programmers and marketers think there? Albums, the ability to create a hierarchy, themes, just group photo materials - this is perhaps the most important thing in working with photos! Who the hell needs a stupid bunch of thousands of photos when you can't scroll through/find what you need! I'M JUST IN TRANS!
How do you people deal with this?
P.S. I am shocked by this "achievement" of Dropbox.

      Hi felicitys, happy Tuesday!

Is the content that you're missing, entirely gone from your Dropbox account or you can't see it, under your desktop/mobile app?

When you say that you upgraded, do you refer to your Dropbox subscription, or your desktop's OS?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Worst thing is nobody at Dropbox informed us of this action!!Look at all the complaints ...there are many

Hey Piggy75, thanks for joining our Community!

Are you referring to the Dropbox app on your phone? And do you have an Android phone?

Do you still see your photos in the 'photos' tab?

    Keep me posted!
