File explorer "not responding" error during move to Dropbox

I was uploading a large amount of files via "move" from my Desktop.  The File Explorer froze and went to "Not responding" part way through and now my files are neither in the original location nor did they move to Dropbox.   Is there any way to recover them or force the upload?

I'm set to lose hundreds of photos of my children if I cannot solve this.

Hey Blkbelt901, thanks for letting us know about this.

What's the sync status of the Dropbox app, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?

Perhaps the app is just stuck.

Also, which Windows version are you using?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm using Windows 8.1 (this is a really old pc we havent used in a while).

I did manage to find the files in the "Dropbox" folder on my local device after restarting but nothing is uploaded.  And I'm not seeing any sync options.  I reinstalled the desktop app and its not seeing these files from the local at all.

Do you see a small Dropbox icon in your system tray, by the clock, Blkbelt901?

If so, please hover over it, to see the sync status of the app.
