Hey Blkbelt901, thanks for letting us know about this.
What's the sync status of the Dropbox app, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?
Perhaps the app is just stuck.
Also, which Windows version are you using?
Thanks in advance.

I'm using Windows 8.1 (this is a really old pc we havent used in a while).
I did manage to find the files in the "Dropbox" folder on my local device after restarting but nothing is uploaded. And I'm not seeing any sync options. I reinstalled the desktop app and its not seeing these files from the local at all.

Do you see a small Dropbox icon in your system tray, by the clock, Blkbelt901?
If so, please hover over it, to see the sync status of the app.

The icon is completely missing. It claims to be synced when I open the desktop app.

Would you mind re-installing the app just to see if that changes things at all Blkbelt901?
You also mentioned that it claims to be synced when you open the app. How do you open it, without the little Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi on your task bar?

Hi - i have a shortcut on my desktop that opens the app.
I spent the weekend manually moving the files out of the dropbox folder to an external harddrive so at least I was able to save my content. Thank you everyone for the help but I'm just going to chalk this up to antiquated systems not cooperating with newer software.

Thanks for the update, Blkbelt901.
Indeed, it seems that Windows 8.1 computers are no longer supported by Dropbox, so that's probably the reason for your issue here.
