I referred a friend and didn't get the extra space. Any ideas?

Hi, I referred a friend and did not get any extra storage. How can I contact dropbox support. The robot chat doesn't work.

    You can check the status of the referral on your Plan page. Remember that your friend needs to install Dropbox on a unique computer. Mobile devices do not count for referrals.

      I already check that, but it doesn't show. I emailed them a link and they click the link and signed up but neither of us received any credit.

    I have 3 gmail when I invite my second gmail for dropbox, dropbox give me 500 mb extra storage and when I invite my third gmail and i install dropbox desktop app and sign in Dropbox didnt gave to me any extra storage
    Please help me

      You shoudn't have received the first 500MB bonus. The referral system is for inviting other people to Dropbox; not your own accounts. You're taking advantage of the system to earn free space. If Dropbox realizes this, they can not only mark your referral as ineligible, but they can remove ALL your referral space as a result.

    I have already sent an invitation to install a Dropbox to my friends and they did it but I can't get more space (for 4 of them).

     

    What's is the problem?

    I sent a friend an invitation to use Dropbox in 2018, but he only got around to signing up today. He couldn't find the original invitation email anymore and just signed up using his email address associated with the invitation. 

     

    However, it looks like the referral is not recognized since he did not use the referral link from the invitation email. In my account the referral still shows as "invitation sent" and "EMAIL is already using Dropbox, sorry", when I click for details. 

     

    I think this is highly misleading, since the text of the "invitation sent" message before he signed up only indicated to make sure that the recipient signs up with the correct email address (and not that clicking the link is a requirement). 

     

    Could someone from the Dropbox support team weigh in and possibly open a ticket to remedy this?

    finally got my referral to sign up to dropbox a few minutes ago to claim that 500gb additional space but now my account says that the user already has an account instead of giving me the 500gb space. How do we fix this?

     

    My account is [removed per the Community's Guidelines] and the referral just signed up with the email [removed per the Community's Guidelines] as requested but I still do not see my credit. When I do a check it says the user already has a dropbox when it didn't say that just a few minutes ago right before the sign up. how can I get assistance with this? They are both basic accounts and I cannot find any live chat or email support option on this site. Been looking for 30 minutes now. Please help!

      Hi there, orangeflava, thanks for reaching out to us. 

      Could you check with the other user if they clicked directly on the invitation you sent them to set up their account?

      Also, could you clarify exactly what the status of the referral under your Plan tab's Space earned is?

      If you could send me a screenshot (without any personal info), that would be super helpful.

        hi all.

        Similar issue—have been a long-time user—no referrals in a long time until recently when I set up a new account for my mother—with the referral—but I didn't get it.

        Is there any way to check to see how to get the credit? thanks!

    I made a recommendation and my family member followed all the steps and they still haven't given us the 500mb reward. What can we do?

      You can find the status of your referrals on your Referrals page. Did they install the Dropbox application on a unique computer? Mobile devices (phone, tablets, etc.) do not count.

    Hi, I recently invited a friend by email from the appropriate section within the Dropbox app settings, he registered his new account after a few days from the invite link but I didn't get the free 500MB bonus in my account, I was wondering why.

      Is it possible that your friend didn't install the Dropbox desktop app on their computer?

       

      Can you check the referral status in your account settings and let us know how it appears?

        Thanks a lot, i didn't know that you need to complete those steps to get the bonus, i thought you only needed to make someone register.
        I checked the section of the referral status and in fact it says "waiting for installation". I'll tell my friend to install it.
