Dropbox Installer remove Windows Defender Firewall rule

I'm using Windows Defender Firewall and it blocks sends that don't match the rules.
I created a rule to allow the Dropbox process, but every time I update Dropbox this rule is removed.

If this rule is removed, I will not be able to use Dropbox, which will be a problem.

Hi Drpx, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

In general, when the Dropbox desktop application is updated, this could cause security software to not recognize the new version of the app if the security settings are strict.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

      Hi Jay,

Sorry, I don't know if Windows Defender Firewall is strict or not. Even if you set a sending rule called "Dropbox" in another application, the rule will be removed every time you update the Dropbox desktop application. I found that renaming the rule does not delete it. Update the Dropbox desktop application. It's strange that the "Dropbox" rule is removed.

Hi @Jay, Reproduce with these steps.

        1) There is a rule called "Dropbox" in the outbound of Windows Defender Firewall.
        2) The rule allows the process 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe'.
        3) Install/Update the Dropbox desktop application with administrator privileges.
The rule will be removed with these steps.

        Windows 11 23H2
        DropboxClient_197.4.7571.x64.exe

        Thank you.
