Video files uploaded from iOS mobile app appear as broken .jpg files

Since some time, the Dropbox app saves videos from IOS Gallery as an 'broken'picture, jpg.

So uploading pictures works fine, but can't upload video's anymore.

I am not sure why this is happening, but I think the file's being uploaded correctly but with the wrong file extension. If you rename it from .jpg to .mp4 it should be able to play as a video.

Hey janneman1111, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community.

I just tested this on my end and I didn't come across this issue.

You're uploading these videos manually through the Dropbox app on your iPhone, right?

Can you open the Dropbox app, tap on "account", then on the gear icon and then on "clear cache" to see if that helps?

Is the app updated to the latest version as well?

    Let me know!

      Hi Hannah,

Clearing cache did not help...still same problem.
      Version is 356.2.2
It seems to me that the app is not recognizing the file as a video file. As you can see on my screenprint where I put the red circle on.... It shows a picture...

      Hi Hannah,

I just found out that video's taken with my Iphone are no problem and uploaded correct, saved as .mov file.
It seems that (all?) other videos, received through Whatsapp or so, are the problem.

Still strange and did not have that issue in the (near) past...
