PLEASE allow Admins of Business accounts to disable the auto-generated personal folder that is in each user's Business Dropbox. For my business, as well as many other businesses, having a personal folder in each user's Business Dropbox poses many problems. At the VERY LEAST, allow us to change the name of the personal folder so it's not directly tied to the user's name. If I could at least rename the folder to "DO NOT USE", without having to make that the user's name, that would be useful. First, it confuses employees, who mistakenly move or save files into this personal folder instead of the shared team folders. Second, it can cause naming problems, as I name my users by generic names instead of their personal names, because employees change often. For example, my user account names for my 3 users are the same as my shared team folder names. So now, when user "Financial" access their Dropbox, there is a shared team folder called "Financial", as well as their personal folder called "Financial" that cannot be renamed. Employees will absolutely be confused by this and put things in the wrong folders.... all because Dropbox has forced these ridiculous personal folders onto us. Third, most businesses require complete control over their cloud file sharing system, and the files within. Each user having their own personal folder causes a big problem for data security.578Views2likes3CommentsIDEA: Remove "Log in or sign up" popup when downloading from a shared link
This issue has been brought up by many people in discussion posts this year, but there has still been no solution, so I am creating an idea post here: I share view-only download links with my clients almost every day, but when they click the "Download" button, a pop-up box now appears, prompting them to log in or sign up. There is an option at the bottom of the box that says "Or continue with download only," but it is in small text and easily overlooked. As a result, I’ve received many emails from clients asking why they need to sign in to download the files, something they never had to do before. To resolve this, I have to send them screenshots highlighting the option, which is time-consuming and unprofessional. I also end up with some clients creating Dropbox accounts because they think they have to, and then requesting access to join the folder. Additionally, I had a client insist that this option was not available for them and went back and forth with them before I found out that they had their browser zoomed in slightly and the download button was blocked by Dropbox's cookie notice (see image below). I also brought up this cookie issue in my previous post (5 months ago). I have checked it recently and this cookie notice issue has been fixed, but not the popup sign in box. So it sounds like the team has heard our complaints... I have been a loyal Dropbox user for many years, but this new addition to the download process is creating a poor experience for my clients and making me appear unprofessional. While I understand Dropbox might benefit from new sign-ups, this practice feels misleading and unethical. Your business users deserve better than this. I really hope Dropbox can come to its senses and remove this pop-up box entirely. In case anyone's unaware... if you're a Mac user storing your Dropbox on an external drive, you'll shortly lose that ability. https://talk.tidbits.com/t/dropbox-drops-support-for-storing-files-on-an-external-drive-and-onedrive-retains-it/20797/16 https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-support-for-expected-changes Just confirmed this with DB support (see below). Gutted - been with Dropbox for years and our entire video team flow is based around it 😕 >Hi there, I read today that you are scrapping the ability to store the Dropbox folder on external disks, on OSX. I'd like to ask more about this please. > Hello Jon, and thank you for contacting Dropbox Support. My name is Joseph, and I will be more than happy to look into your request, right away. That is correct Jon, as part of the Dropbox for macOS update, the Dropbox folder must be located in ~/Library/CloudStorage. >This is a showstopper for us, and will mean we have to move to another service. We have a large distributed team using DB for video work, no way it'll fit within internal drives. Is there a workaround? >I totally understand and I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, there is no workaround on this as changing the location of your Dropbox folder is no longer supported by macOS. >This change doesn't seem to have hit us yet - we're running a variety of machines inc Ventura What will trigger its enforcement? Can we stay on an earlier OS or Dropbox version? >The updates happening automatically every time the Dropbox app is restarting, for example if your device never restarts it should maintain the older version but we can't guarantee full functionality on older versions of the application. >So what will happen - if we have a Dropbox folder on an 8TB drive and a tiny internal drive - will it try to clone stuff across and eat up the space? What's the mechanism? >That's right, it will try to move the content on your internal drive until it has no space and gives you an error. >Is Smartsync still supported?I.e. will it move stuff to being online only if it won't fit? >It is, however it is now known as online-only.Solved102KViews25likes694CommentsAllow us to pair more than 1 personal with 1 team account.
Allow us to sync more than 1 business accounts. is there a reason to have a limit of 1 personal and 1 business account? surely it's just folders at the end of the day, and if i wanted to pay for multiple accounts, why are you stopping me?19Views2likes2CommentsI want to check the upload/download files when using the app.
I have been using it at work for many years. It's very helpful, but sometimes the upload or download doesn't proceed. At that time, the message "Synchronizing XX files" will be displayed and no progress will be made for several days. If I could figure out which file is taking the time, I could temporarily save it, but I can't do anything about it because I don't know which file is the problem. Is it possible to have the Dropboxdesktop app display which files are being synced?43Views0likes6CommentsHow is Boxcryptor encryption included in plans and where is data stored?

How can I restore everything?
I have seen loads of people having these kinds of issues with Dropbox since 3 years ago. Unfortunately this issue remained unsolved by dropbox until today. What happened was I joined our company Dropbox team a few months ago. Now they are changing the subscription, and one of my colleagues wanted to remove me from the Team. In doing so, she deleted my account due to misunderstanding of the website wordings. On my computer, my downloads, desktop, documents files are gone. I tried restoring my files from Apple time machine but failed. It says the upper files path does not exist. Some traces deleting the folder somehow broke the path to the folders. I am in desperate need of recovering my account.51Views0likes8CommentsMy account is in locked stage, after joining another team, and I can't access my files.
