Apps and Installations

I recently upgraded my PC desktop to Windows 11. Dropbox worked perfectly in Windows 10, and when I upgraded my laptop to 11, it was seamless. On the desktop, I can access Dropbox through the web, but updated files from my other computers do not show up as updated when I load them into their usual application on the desktop! (for example, I can "see" an updated Excel file in the Dropbox viewer, but when I try to open it up in Excel, I only get an older file.) I think the Dropbox app is not loaded in Windows 11, but when I attempt to install the download (both the regular and the extended), I get an error message that the files needed cannot be accessed. Is this the problem? If so, how do I fix it? The Microsoft Store only has something called Dropbox for S Mode (I don't have S Mode, as far as I know). Should I use that? This is both confusing and frustrating. Help!
Nancy,
Any ideas?
Also, is it possible I just need to uninstall/reinstall the Dropbox app on my computer? If that's an idea, could you send me a link for the Dropbox app? I can't seem to locate one on the Dropbox website.
Thanks,
Andy

Hi,
Not sure what is going on... The link led to a "to get started, we need to open your dropbox". I did so, and my dropbox opened, but I didn't see a way to then download the app.
Can you check and see if this was the correct link, or perhaps I am doing something wrong.
Thanks,
Andy

So, this is in the realm of the mysterious things that happen that don't really make any sense.
I tried installing the Dropbox app, but hit a wall... with a message to the effect that the files could not be expanded.
I tried removing the existing (non-working) Dropbox app, but hit a wall... with a message that the uninstall failed (who knew that could happen?)
I re-started my computer...
The Dropbox app works!
So, good outcome (for now), but incomprehensible.
And not real confident this won't happen again in the future.
Please do not take down this chain, as I may be back!! 😅

On my PC, Win11 had installed TWO Dropbox Apps - my original still-working one (Dropbox for S), and another one, an invite to install the Dropbox App. And it seemed that the Desktop Dropbox icon was linked to this second App. Uninstalling this second App restored the desktop icon link to my working Dropbox for S App.
Sadly, back to nothing functioning with Dropbox.
I can reach it through my web browser, but not through the Dropbox app. Further, i can't upload a Word file to Dropbox (at least through the "save" function in Word).
Weirdly, everything was fine yesterday. I haven't done anything different.
I tried doing a re-start, but it doesn't seem to matter.
This is very frustrating, and I'm not sure what to do next.
Any new ideas? Is this an issue with other users?
Mine stopped working a couple of weeks ago on my Win11 PC, with just the startup blue screen with logo shown. Uninstalled and re-installed and now OK. However, had to sign out of existing Win11 and sign back in with new install.
Seems to be working OK now.
Hey, @grov! I'm happy to see that your issue was eventually resolved and thanks for keeping us in the loop.
As for you @ajborson, can you give us some more details on the issue?
Why are you not able to access your files through the Dropbox app?
And are you referring to the Dropbox mobile app or the desktop app?
Any additional info you can give us, would be super helpful.
