Linux Computer Backup

I was pointed here to give a suggestion from this thread: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Trying-to-backup-on-Linux/td-p/548352

It would be nice if the functionality was added to (https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/linux-commands)

Some commands like:

`dropbox backup enable/disable`

and

`dropbox backup add/remove /path/to/folder/or/file`

Currently the advice is to mount into the dropbox folder (https://askubuntu.com/questions/1366889/how-can-i-use-dropbox-to-back-up-arbitrary-folders/1366896#1366896)

    Hi Dropbox Team,

I would like to propose some Dropbox love for GNU\Linux regarding some features like Dropbox Backup & Rewind, Dropbox Selective Sync or Dropbox Vault.

There are some topics related in the forums but all are closed or without attention saying it's not a supported feature in GNU\Linux, so the purpose of this request is to take into consideration and include it in your development roadmap.

P.S.1. I know this is a difficult request based on distro & desktop variety, but if you start at least with one would be awesome.

P.S.2. If you don't want to do all the effort by yourself, please consider to involve the GNU\Linux community to contribute for this.

    Thanks & have a nice day 😉

I asked tech support, they said you have to use the app  (https://www.dropbox.com/install-linux)

It runs, it backs up my dropbox folder, it has no UI.

Apparently, enabling back-ups and adding folders is supposed to be done in said UI.

Meanwhile, there is a CLI which works great (as CLI's tend to).  But the CLI has no command to enable back ups or add folders to back up.  (https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/linux-commands)

I don't know what to do next.

I've posted about it here:  https://askubuntu.com/questions/1366889/how-can-i-use-dropbox-to-back-up-arbitrary-folders
    and here: https://twitter.com/SephReed/status/1443980016765874178

That is all.  I'm not expecting anything to come from this, but someone has to try.

Hey Seph, thanks for reaching out!

I'm afraid that the computer backup feature is currently not available to our Linux users.

You can always post an idea about this on our idea board for other users to up-vote.

Let me know if you have any questions.

As so often, Linux users are left out. Why?

Backup shouldn't be technically too different from normal Dropbox shares.
