Hello, My Dropbox app on iPad is not syncing with my Windows 11 desktop. For example, when I open a mind mapping software that I use (Xmind) and try to open a mind map that I saved in Dropbox desktop: beside the Dropbox icon, there is a circle formed by two arrows with an exclamation point inside of the circle. I cannot find any information in Dropbox support files on this specific icon. I am guessing it is indicating some sort of sync issue. I would appreciate your instruction and help for this Dropbox newbie. Thanks much! DaveSolved36Views0likes10CommentsOpen .pages files in Dropbox on iPad
Hi there I‘m moving away from Office 365 to Apple apps. When on my iPad, when I click on a Word file, I get the „open in“ button to open in Microsoft Word. When I click on a .pages file, I only get an „open“ button which, when clicked, opens the file in Dropbox with no editing options. What am I doing wrong? I have the Dropbox app on my previous tablet, the Fire HD 10. At one time Dropbox was in the Amazon app store (analogous to Google Play store). It's not there any more. The Kindle is an Android device, but Google Play apps can't reliably be installed. I assumed I'd be able to install Dropbox on the newest Fire tablet. Not so. I spent an hour on the phone this afternoon with an Amazon CSR who ultimately told me that if an app isn't in the Amazon app store, you can't install it. Even though the Dropbox app is in my Amazon app library, I still can't download/install it on the new tablet. But I wouldn't expect him to know of a secret way to do it, or if he did know, to tell me. I can log in to Dropbox.com on the Kindle's Silk browser, but when I try to open a "paper," I get a message to download the app. 🙄 Yeah, that's what I'd like to do. I do have a Dropbox Plus paid subscription. It would be great if I could somehow transfer the app from my older Kindle to the new one. Can anyone help?282Views0likes4CommentsMy Word files are not getting saved to Dropbox on Android
Greetings to the Community, I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with the Microsoft Word app on my Android tablet in conjunction with Dropbox. Previously, I was able to seamlessly save my Word documents to my Dropbox account by selecting "Save As" and choosing the Dropbox folder. However, for the past month, this process has ceased to function. Despite diligently following the same steps as before, my saved documents are no longer appearing in the Dropbox app, Dropbox Web, or my Dropbox desktop application on my laptop. Essentially, my work is not being uploaded to Dropbox. I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter. Your expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this issue. Sincerely, Joseph2KViews0likes18CommentsI'm getting conflicted copies when using Pages on my iPad with Dropbox files.
Hi there. Whenever I use Pages on my iPad for word processing and the file it’s using is sourced from Dropbox I’m getting multiple conflicted copies generated. It feels like 1 every 5 minutes or whenever the program auto-saves so 30 minutes of writing will generate multiple conflicted copies in my Dropbox folder. Anyone have any solutions or workarounds to this? Thanks356Views0likes3CommentsWhy is Dropbox taking up so much space on my iPad pro?
This might be the wrong category, but it was the closest I could find that seemed to fit. My iPad is set to store files online only. I tried to research this as much as I could before coming here and starting this thread, but I'm no expert, so maybe I'm missing something obvious? When I check the app, it says I have zero files accessible offline, which is how it should be, and yet when I check my apps, it says the dropbox is taking up a whopping 158gb of space on my 1tb hard drive. It's the biggest storage hog by more than triple the next largest app (Clip Studio Paint - I'm an artist and I have lots of brushes, textures, etc... loaded into the app). I have cleared the cache on Dropbox a couple of times and that hasn't made much of any difference. I have restarted my iPad as well and that hasn't made any difference either. I back up all my work files to dropbox more or less daily, plus reference material and any app specific stuff because I use Clip Studio on my Mac Pro as well, so dropbox is how I get things back and forth (I HATE mac's sync system - you couldn't pay me enough to use it, or time machine). I don't have the dropbox desktop app on my Mac pro either - I just use the internet to upload files (my Mac pro is too old to support the desktop app). Anyway, from everything I can tell, there should be no reason dropbox is taking up so much space. I would greatly appreciate someone helping me with what it seems I am obviously missing. My iPad pro is a 3rd generation 12.9 inch version and it's running iOS 17.6.1. As I mentioned before, it has a 1tb drive and I don't remember how much ram or what the processor chip is. Sorry.Solved639Views0likes2CommentsPlease confirm that deleting the Dropbox account will not remove photos from iPad or Phone.
Hi there, I am working with a client who wishes to delete his dropbox account. It is currently storing copies of files from his laptop, and photographs from his iPad and mobile. I have copied the files from the DropBox folder of his laptop to a folder on his C drive. Please can someone definitively confirm that DropBox mobile simply creates a back-up of photos and does not remove them from the device. Please confirm that deleting and closing his DropBox account will have no impact on the photos stored on his phone. He has never deleted any photographs from his mobile that he wishes to keep so that is not an issue. Every web search I have done confirms the above, but none of the information is direct from DropBox and the chat bot pre-programmed responses are not applicable.
