Dropbox update android
Dropbox will not allow files to be opened, says needs update. Cannot see how to update the app.

You should be able to find the relevant option in the app's settings
On your Android device, follow these steps:
1. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
2. Select "Settings"
3. Select “Clear Cache”Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

I have version 326.2.4 Dropbox app on my android phone. All of a sudden, every time I want to open something from the Dropbox app into Word, I get a message that I need to update the Dropbox app. I still have plenty of space in my free account, and don't want to upgrade. I do not see anywhere to UPDATE (not upgrade) the app. Can someone help?

Hey there Luckystar1952 , thanks for flagging this with us.
Could you please clear the app's cache and let us know if this persists?
If it does, I'd appreciate a screenshot too.
- Luckystar19522 years agoHelpful | Level 5Thanks. I did that and it worked. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23+. Seems like the issue affected all Samsung users.

Same problem, solution doesn't work for me (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, all latest updates).
- opening via dropbox app > Word = "read only" message
- opening via dropbox app > Microsoft 365 (Office)" app = no such message window, but when trying to save (either disk icon or via check-icon and then "<--" icon I can only save as Copy.
I un-/re-installed the dropbox app and repeatedly deleted local files (app data / cache).

Hey kn03del, what is the exact OS version of your device?
If uninstalling and reinstalling the app didn't help, can we send you an email, so we can take a closer look?
- kn03del2 years agoExplorer | Level 4Thanks for getting back to me on this. My OS is Android 12 Build SP1A.210812.016.N975FXXS8HWC5. I'd be happy to help by mail.
