Time Left in Sync has been removed from the desktop app
The dropbox menu bar app has stopped showing the time left in the current sync in the bottom of the window. It shows a seemingly irrelevant progress bar but even hovering over that does not tell me the time left to sync, which I have depended on to let clients know when files will be there. Hovering over only gives me the option to pause syncing. Was this feature removed or is this a bug in the latest update?
I'm on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6

Hi everyone,I’m a member of the Dropbox desktop application team.First off, I’d like to thank you all for your feedback on this.Earlier this year, we removed the time to sync estimate from the Dropbox menu and replaced it with a progress bar as we believed it would be a better measure of true progress of your files syncing, rather than the time to sync estimates. That said - we’ve heard you! We have decided to bring back the time to sync estimate in an upcoming build of the Dropbox desktop application!Once this build is released, you should automatically see the time to sync estimate again. We will also update you here as soon as the version with the time estimate is available. We truly appreciate all of your feedback, it’s very important to us to make Dropbox work for our users. Thank you!Hi all,
I've checked with the team and this has been released to the current stable version v73.
It is available now for download, but your devices should also automatically be updated to this version soon.
Thanks once again for your patience and feedback!

Hi, LuisA1.
Thank you for your reply. It's good news to people on Dropbox that this feature is coming back, but I want to point out that your visit to this issue was the FIRST TIME since March 29 that an employee of Dropbox bothered to come here and talk to us.
As a result, several of us, including me, have signed on with a competing service (Sync) that offers more space for the same money and has a time-to-sync notification.
In addition to writing here, we have tried to deal with tech support and beg them to bring this issue to your team. Their explanations for the change were not satisfactory and they have little empowerment to do anything real to help us.
Feel free to reach out again to discuss this breach of trust and appropriate customer service that has caused many to jump ship.
While at the moment I remain a member of Dropbox as well, my intention is to transition to Sync over a short while. This would NOT HAVE HAPPENED if your team had responded sooner to this.

Totaly agree ElJayBronxNY! Months, hundreds of comments and 9,000 views of this thread - not to mentinoed the hours each of us spent to the online chats reps - later, we *finally* get a response to an insane issue that should never have been an issue at all. I think it all begs the questions that we'd all love to know, why on earth would the application team remove the feature that many rely upon in the first instance? Still giving sync a trial anyway as this whole thing has made me lose confidence in db.

May 15th :
I'm saving the kind words and thanks for that upcoming day.
- emmasmartacusHelpful | Level 6So when exactly is this coming back? I’ve noticed that even the syncing bar has disappeared so things appear to have only gotten worse. I realise your coders work hard, but why take away something that worked (even if slightly inaccurate) and take months and months to reinstate it. This is literally the only feature I care about on Dropbox. And no, I don’t want to use it within the browser, Desktop is best for the large files I send.

I have the same problem, this is extremely inconvenient for my buisiness needs, please bring back this feature

Dear Dropbox,
On behalf of the many many users who are complaining about the removal of the time remaining, or time left feature, I am requesting that you reinstate this feature in the next update. For so many of us, this was Dropbox's most integral feature.
I urge anyone who is missing this feature to post a 'seconded' below.
Dropbox, please do not mark this as 'Solved' until the feature has been reinstated. Also, please do not merge this with the other thread where us users have been talking about this topic.
Thank you very much for listening to your customers.

Seconded. Still want the "time remaining" feature back. As soon as possible, please.
- MikeW1Helpful | Level 6
I second this request. This feature is important to me. Without it I don't know if an upload is almost finished or still has another day to go!
- MikeW1Helpful | Level 6
I don't understand why this happened, by the way. Is there really anyone who dislikes being able to see an estimate of the time remaining???
- nei a.Experienced | Level 11
I also would like to see this come back,
however it will not happen,
never has dropbox listened to users once they made a change.

Hi I have the same problem... did you get to solve it?
Thank you!

After autoupdate my dropbox to version 69.4.102 i noticed that upload/dowload progress in system tray look different, now its show only speed and dont show time anymore. Time was very important for me to understand how long need to wait upload/dowload.
How to fix this issue? Dowgrade to older version doesnt help, because its autoupdate again.Dear Dropbox, please return older function which show time and speed together.
Thanks for help.- marinacoserHelpful | Level 6
PLEASEEEEE FEEDBACK! I am about to cancel subscription for two people and asking refund!

Guys
I am talking to support and they are saying this is the latest update and it's now like this
I advise you all to write them to ask to bring the feature back.
I will now search for an alternative software
- PW87Helpful | Level 5
Thanks for the update marinacoser, ridiculous that there still hasnt been an official word from dropbox about it.
Will have to look for alternative software. What feature will they remove next?
- sylrod000Helpful | Level 5
I am having the same problem. I am trying to get files to a client and I cant even see the transfer speed. All it says is "syncing 3 files". I have no idea if I have a fast or slow upload speed. This is very frustrating and is killing my workflow. Dropbox, please fix this. Why on earth would it be removed?
- matiasjaNew member | Level 2
Just by looking at the amount of complains in this thread it is easy to tell they screwed big time.
It's a shame, already starting to look for an alternative provider and I bet they'll lose many customers just for removing a tiny yet crucial feature (and not providing any kind of technical justification).
- LekHelpful | Level 5
Dear Dropbox, why this qestion marked as solved if its still not solved?
- harborlighthousHelpful | Level 6
The reason this is marked as solved is bacsue this is a feature not a bug.
The Project Manager on this feature should be reassigned or let go, and the Dropbox team needs to own their mistake and put the time remaining indicator back.
It is ridiculous it has not already been rolled back.
Again, see my comment about hubris, and lack of humility.Incredibly arrogant behavior by Dropbox
- rsilvesNew member | Level 2
This is one of the main reasons why I loved Dropbox, now it's gone. I really hope they put it back. I also canceled my subscription because of this.
- JayDropbox StaffHi there, if you hover over the Dropbox menu bar icon, instead of the progress bar, does it show the time remaining for the files to sync fully?Keep me posted!
- strigimusicHelpful | Level 6
I would also like to have this feature restored please! This a big one for me in particular!
- NikyphotosNew member | Level 2
My entire team and I vote to bring this feature back too. It is also essencial for us when letting clients know when to expect their files. This blue status bar is pretty but completly pointless. Please dropbox people, bring it back!

How long do I have to wait at this high-speed wifi restaurant in order to get all my files synced? Thanks to Dropbox, now I can't plan my schedule. This is fantastic for busy business owners.
- ChetDangusNew member | Level 2
For the last 10 years or so I'm fairly certain when I added a file to my dropbox folder I could check to see how long it would take to upload. It would give me an estimate and show the current upload speed.
Now I can only see the upload speed? I often need to give my clients an ETA on when large files will be done uploading. I'm not sure where this feature has gone. My friends older MBP on older OSX still has this feature.
I'm on OSX Mojave 10.14.2 and a top of the line garbage pile 2018 MBP.
