Shared folder not syncing.. HELP
Hey all... done this a million times, client shares their folders with me and they auto sync to my Windows dropbox app, so i can work locally.
However, it's not working this time. No matter what i search for, there is no option to 'add to folder'.
It's worked ok on my Mac, but my windows won't add them.
Any help?
Thanks
Hi tim2111, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Just to confirm, is the folder visible and added to your account on the Dropbox site, but not on your Windows computer?
Does the folder name contain any incompatible characters for Windows, such as a | or : symbol?
This will help me to assist further!

Yes Jay - Thanks for the response - Yes, the indeed has an '|'.
If this is removed from the folder name, will it sync ok?
I'll get my client to edit now.

That's correct, although, the client doesn't have to edit it, only you do, and it'll sync fine. Changing it to a - would work.
Bear in mind that even if they change it, it wont change on your end. For you to see the change, they need to fully unshare the folder, and then reshare it to you.

The folder is visible on the account but not in the computer

Hi CG16, let's jump right into this!
If I understand your situation at the moment, it seems that you have a folder that's visible online, but not on the desktop app.
Can you check your app's version, along with its syncing status, and let me know what it reports please? We need to make sure the app is running & updating properly.
Keep me posted!
