How to prevent automatic image file renaming when sending to Dropbox on Android
I'm on an Android phone. (Xiaomi Redmi Note 13)
When I select some pictures in gallery and send them to Dropbox, they arrive on dropbox with all filenames messed up, even in reverse order if I browse them later.
In Android phone gallery (original filenames):
IMG_20240910_121015.jpg
IMG_20240910_121020.jpg
In Dropbox they end up like:
1726080697664.jpg
1726080697673.jpg
As you can see the original file names contains a pretty and convinient date and time of when the picture has been taken, in dropfox folder instead they end up like maybe some sort of timestamp (of the upload time?)
Is there an option to disable this unwanted behavior? Is maybe related to the "removing of personal information" phase happening just before the upload starts? The images are for my personal usage so I'd need also to disable this removal.
Thank you.
Hi there DrLightman - thanks for posting on our Community and using Dropbox!
From what I gather you're importing your files to Dropbox from your phone's gallery. Instead of sending them from your phone's gallery, have you tried manually uploading them via the (+) button within the Dropbox mobile app?
You might also want to check out our automatic camera uploads feature.
Let us know more and we'll take it from there.
