Excel Files not opening to edit in Excel from Dropbox.
Started this week. On my phone I can open an Excel file in Dropbox as a preview but when I click on the edit button I get the Office Excel opening (Downloading from Dropbox) screen, then it flips to the "Microsoft Office Integration would like access to the files and folders in your Dropbox. Learn more. > Allow screen" I click on Allow then it just flips back to the Dropbox preview of my Excel file. I have logged out of Dropbox on the (Android) phone, then back in, no change. I have rebooted the phone, no change. I have uninstalled Excel on my phone and let Dropbox install it again, no change. Sometimes I get the "Sign in to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration" prompt so I do, no change. I have clear Cache, no change. Removed the Default apps, no change. I can open and edit the Excel file with Excel on the Web from a computer. I am will to use Google Sheets but I do not get that as an option on the phone.
Note: I can open the Excel file in Excel on my phone if I open Excel directly on the phone then select the file, just not from within Dropbox.

Hi ijmolder66, thanks for posting here today!
Can you clarify exactly when this started happening? Have you made sure both your Microsoft, and Dropbox app are up-to-date?
Also, can you clarify if you're using an individual Dropbox plan, or a Business one?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Same exact thing is happening to me. Can't edit Word or Excel Files in Dropbox on phone. Samsung phone. Noticed it today - July 14.

I noticed it this past Wednesday (7/12/23). I use the spreadsheet to track my gas fill ups, frequency, costs, and MPG. The last time I used it successfully on my phone was last 6/20/23. I use it a lot on my computer without issue. I have used Google Play to update all the apps, same result. Is there a way to manually check for Dropbox updates in the phone app? I did not see it if there is one. I have the Dropbox Basic, (Individual?)

Sorry to see you're having this issue, ijmolder66 and rajma420.
Can you please make sure that your Dropbox app is updated to the latest version and let me know if the issue persists?

And you're currently on the 340.2.2 version of the app, is that correct?

Hi rajma420, if you access Excel directly, and try to open your files from there are you able to do so?
As for some screenshots, what happens after you see the message that ijmolder66 posted: "Microsoft Office integration would like access to files and folders in your Dropbox"? Is it stuck like that?

No, currently the app says 340.2.4

HI all, I just wanted to check back on this. Is anyone still having issues with this?

I am still unable to open password protected excel files in the dropbox app. I can open normal excel or word files just fine.
File integration message, then says can't open. Open with something else.

Actually, still can't edit a word doc or excel file in Dropbox app. Microsoft - allow integration. Can't Edit a word doc too

I had the same issue on my iPad for weeks. Try shutting down the Excel app, then going into the settings for the Excel app, click on “Reset Excel,” then “Clear All Workbooks.” Then close the settings and reopen Excel. It immediately fixed the problem for me.

Well that didn’t fix the problem (although my earlier work around did fix it sort of)
however, going into excel in settings, then going to reset excel, and clicking on delete sign in credentials fixed the problem. I just had to login into my Microsoft account again.
