So I have a free account and no longer need it. I have tried the steps on website to delete the account but when I get to the end after putting in my password nothing happens. I have tried deleting through the app and get an error message stating the account can’t be deleted due to an unknown error. I’ve tried different browsers and wiping the cache, still no fix. Any ideas?33Views0likes3CommentsMy email address is no longer active, so I can't login to Dropbox
Hi, the email that was used to setup my dropbox account is no longer active. I am therefore unable to access my account. I need to access so that I can update the email to my new email. I pay for my subscription. I am at a loss on how to contact Dropbox to help me.79Views1like9CommentsCan we disable the team member folder?
PLEASE allow Admins of Business accounts to disable the auto-generated personal folder that is in each user's Business Dropbox. For my business, as well as many other businesses, having a personal folder in each user's Business Dropbox poses many problems. At the VERY LEAST, allow us to change the name of the personal folder so it's not directly tied to the user's name. If I could at least rename the folder to "DO NOT USE", without having to make that the user's name, that would be useful. First, it confuses employees, who mistakenly move or save files into this personal folder instead of the shared team folders. Second, it can cause naming problems, as I name my users by generic names instead of their personal names, because employees change often. For example, my user account names for my 3 users are the same as my shared team folder names. So now, when user "Financial" access their Dropbox, there is a shared team folder called "Financial", as well as their personal folder called "Financial" that cannot be renamed. Employees will absolutely be confused by this and put things in the wrong folders.... all because Dropbox has forced these ridiculous personal folders onto us. Third, most businesses require complete control over their cloud file sharing system, and the files within. Each user having their own personal folder causes a big problem for data security.578Views2likes3CommentsSomeone gained access to my account and deleted all the files in a shared folder
Hi, I use a shared folder in Dropbox at work and today one of my colleagues told me that I had deleted all the files in it. When I checked, I had no files shared or owned, also the Deleted Files Folder was empty. The only thing I found was a TXT telling me "Your data has been stolen, please contact someone@outlook.com. I use my google account to log into Dropbox so mainly what I need to know is if this means that my google account is compromised too. I have checked the Signed-In Web Browsers in Dropbox and I clearly recognize a log in from a country that is not where I live, I never lost access to my account. Hope someone can help me understand how this could have happened and how can I prevent from happening again. It would enhance ransomware protection if folders or files could be marked as "read-only", where only a change/rename/erasure is password protected. Read-only is supported for teams, the request is for individual users. Password protection is also available but is for any access - which makes it uncomfortable when reading data; In my case, and I assume for many private users, 99% of the data is never changed once uploaded - family pictures, documents etc. Motivation is to enhance protection in case an unauthorized party got access to your account and has the ability to erase your data - such as a virus or ransomware attack. So the aim is not privacy - it is erasure protection, while not complicating everyday viewing with a password for every read.31Views1like1CommentLock/hide a folder with a password or a security key
Hello, I think it would be a good idea to be able to lock/hide Dropbox folders without necessarily putting them in the vault. There are sensitive documents that we would like not to be accessible to everyone, without necessarily putting them in another place, and moreover, I may need to give access to my account to colleagues, so I think it would be nice to be able to lock/hide them with several security methods: - Security key (Face ID/Touch ID/Physical security key) - Specific password (or PIN) + You could choose to use the security method registered in the Dropbox account, or use another one. Hello. I had an f account******5@yandex.ru which I got forever when I bought a Sony Xperia. It was like 2GB or 20GB. It so happened that I haven't used it for over a year. And now I wanted to log into dropbox and take a very important photo from there, but I'm already gone. All the photos, documents, all the important things that I kept for 10 years - everything is gone! What should I do? At the moment, if I hang about or leave, Dropbox seems to keep me signed in, which is, for me, an unnecessary security risk. Surely a lot of people would dislike this, if they thought about it? There should be an option in Settings to log me off if I am inactive for a set length of time, or if I leave. Could you please look at this? Regards, Mike16030420Views0likes2Comments
