dropbox basic
1423 TopicsMissing files from my account but I didn't delete them
Hello I have Dropbox Basic I had two dropbox folders where I saved short videos from the same dropbox account every month (15th day aprox.) one short video captured from outside security camera to dropbox. Now these files are gone and I have not deleted them myself...🤔 There is nothing in deleted files folder either. This malfunction may have occurred more than 30 days, happened maybe ~2+ months ago because I have the february 2025 file saved. Can I get these files back, there where many years snapshots (~5 Years * 12 snapshots)?13Views0likes1CommentHow can I make sure that my shared link recipients can't see each other?
Very simple dropbox user. upload blueprints, copy link, email to vendors. Now all my vendors can see eachother and thats not good. Also it is making my invitees request my permission to access the folders. All im doing is creating folder, copying that link and emailing it to my vendors. What changed and why can they see eachother now. im not paying for a stupid account so i can call customer service.22Views0likes3CommentsNew computer not making files local
I have a Dropbox that I've maintained for nearly 14 years over various devices, and on my latest computer I've found that the files aren't syncing to offline mode automatically. I changed the setting that allows new files to be saved offline and not just to the cloud, but I can't seem to figure out to how to make sure that it downloads everything (almost 2GB) back to my new system. I can wait for it for sync everything (though 90% is already on the computer, just in an older folder that the new installation of Dropbox refuses to use), but I can't figure out an easy option to do so.Solved1.7KViews0likes11CommentsStorage alert says I'm about to stop syncing but I have enough space
Hi there I recently cancelled my paid plan as I've switched to another storage option that serves me just fine. Over the years I gained more Dropbox storage through referrals etc, so my total storage is showing 10.13GB since I cancelled my plan. Plenty for my needs as all that is on Dropbox is a shared folder managed by a colleague. However, I'm now getting alerts in the app that I'm almost out of storage and that even 'one more file' might break everything. Is this just marketing hype or something I need to be concerned about? The latest alert is an email that says: Notice: Your files are about to stop syncing, **** Here's access to up to 3 TB (3,000 GB) of space. There's limited space available in your Dropbox. Even adding just one more file might stop your account from syncing and being able to access them when you need to Yet when I go into my account settings on the top right of the Dropbox web app it confirms that I have 10.13GB. The shared folder takes about 8GB so I comfortably have space to spare. So do I just have to put up with annoying emails from Dropbox pushing me back onto paid plans now that I'm back to a free plan, or is there a danger of any consequences? Thanks! i'm charged $119 yearly for a plan, maybe it's connected to another email i don't know about or forgot or something, but this account is only a free basic account and so i don't have access to any support. my bank won't let me block the charge, what do i do?45Views0likes3CommentsThe referral I sent to my friend has been marked as ineligible.
Hi everyone, I'm still encountering an issue with a Dropbox friend referral where I'm trying to earn the 500MB bonus storage. I sent the invitation back in 2016. The referral was marked as "ineligible," and I initially considered it might be due to shared computer access, but I can now confirm that the friend I invited did not install or log in to Dropbox on the same computer I used to send the invitation. Given this new information, I'm trying to understand why the referral might still be ineligible. Here are my updated questions: 1. Could the age of the invitation (sent in 2016) be a factor in the referral's ineligibility now? Are there expiration dates or limitations on older referral links? 2. What are the specific steps a referred friend needs to take to ensure the referral is successful and I receive the 500MB bonus under the current program? 3. If the issue isn't related to a shared computer, what are some other common reasons for referral ineligibility that I should consider? 4. Is it possible that the referral program terms or the bonus amount offered in 2016 were different and are no longer valid? 5. Should I try sending a new referral invitation to the same friend now? Would that have a better chance of being successful under the current program? Any insights into how the referral program has evolved since 2016 or common pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated. As a Basic user, direct email support options seem limited, so I'm hoping the community can offer some guidance. Thanks in advance for your help!89Views0likes7CommentsDamaged files on the Dropbox desktop app on MacOS Sequoia
Several pdf files stored in my DropBox account are listed as having 0kb files sizes when viewing them on desktop. I am unable to open them in a browser or Acrobat. Via dropbox.com, these same files are fine - downloadable and viewable, etc. There is no issue with file size constraints - all files are well within this account's storage capacity. I have removed and re-installed the desktop app with no change to the above. This is on OSX Sequoia. Any insight into why this is occuring would be helpful. It's a basic account, so Dropbox punts on technical support.Solved101Views0likes4Comments
