I would have thought that the ability to create/edit plain text (*.txt) documents is extremely basic, and something that would be very useful for note taking, documenting the content of a folder and many more things. However this seems to be not supperted either in the Android or the Web app. Something that has become a standard on many cloud-based sites is to also support Markdown documents (*.md) which are like text documents but can be viewed in a formatted nice way. This is also not supported but would be extremely useful to have in the Android and Web apps.998Views5likes3CommentsSpecial folder act as "web server"
Well, I've using Dropbox as my webserver at the beginnings, but due to security Dropbox disable this function, but I suggest only allow a special folder can use HTML code with no scripting support, no dynamic function except plain HTML, this can save my cash hosting some webpages and make use of the Dropbox storage for some PDF files sharing.18Views0likes1CommentHow can I view the number of files and images in a folder?
This seems like a simple enough task but I can't figure out how to view the number of anything in a folder. For example, how many of my images have transferred from my phone to my dropbox account? What's the difference between the "photos" folder in the left hand menu (web version) vs "camera upload" folder on the app? I can see in the "camera upload" folder I have 4922 files. It doesn't distinguish between photos or videos. This number is useless to me unless I know the origin of the photos. I know I don't have 4922 photos on my phone. I have 8800 photos in my iCloud and 396 videos in my iCloud. On my phone, it says my photos are about 3G. Maybe I'm asking too much, I used to have Box and I can see the number of items in a folder so I can see if what I'm uploading is matching. Why is this so hard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi everyone, This is my first post here, so I’ll start with a brief introduction. My team and I run a photo- and videography company based in Amsterdam. We rely heavily on Dropbox for uploading and previewing files in our daily workflow. For years, we used individual accounts, and while not perfect, things were manageable. However, earlier this year, we decided to upgrade to a Dropbox Team account (5 members), hoping for better collaboration and streamlined processes. Unfortunately, the experience has been anything but smooth. From day one, we noticed significant performance issues. The most critical problem is uploading files through the browser. Often, when we try to upload, nothing happens—the page stays stuck in a "loading" state. Refreshing either freezes everything or causes chaos: files start uploading randomly, sometimes double, and often to the wrong folder. We then have to wait for uploads to finish and manually move files to their intended location. This process is extremely time-consuming and frustrating. Previewing files (photos/videos) has also become a nightmare. Sometimes previews load instantly, but more often, we’re stuck refreshing repeatedly, waiting 30-60 seconds per file. It feels like a lottery whether a preview will work at all. These issues weren’t present when we used individual accounts, and it almost seems like Dropbox Team accounts operate on overloaded servers or an entirely different system. We've done all the standard troubleshooting and tested other storage providers to rule out hardware or internet issues—everything works fine except Dropbox. We're using top-tier hardware and the best internet speeds available in Amsterdam. To be clear, I’m not looking for "contact support" suggestions. We've already been down that road. Unfortunately, Dropbox support tends to focus on basic troubleshooting ("Have you tried restarting your computer?") rather than addressing the root cause. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues with Dropbox Team accounts? Are these known problems, or is it just us? Honestly, if this persists, we may need to reconsider our storage provider. We'd love to hear if others have found workarounds or solutions. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.34Views0likes4CommentsI can't delete a large folder due to "1 item couldn’t be permanently deleted" error.
I get this error when trying to permanently delete a folder in my trash. I checked, as suggested in the other discussion about this, and the folder is not shared (this was the problem in the other discussion). In fact, I am the only user on my account and have zero shared folders. I believe the problem is because the large amount of files within the folder, there are 37k, but I could be wrong. I have tried to delete again, as suggested by the error message, and from a different web browser (chrome, edge, and firefox), as suggested in the other discussion, all to no avail. I can not open the deleted folder to select files to manually delete, all though even if I could then it would be too tedious due to the large number of files. In general, I would really appreciate a clear all trash button or even better, an option to completely turn trash off.Solved32Views1like4CommentsHow can I add the Size column on the Dropbox site?
Hi everyone, When I view files and fodlers on Dropbox Web, I couldn't add a column file size (or find in Dropbox setting) so that i can quickly know the size of those files. I wonder is there any way we can do that? Example: https://imgur.com/OjDmB4q https://imgur.com/rlsqNLB Thank you, NathanSolved26Views0likes3CommentsShared link bandwidth monitor for Dropbox users to prevent breaking bandwidth limits
A tool designed to monitor real-time bandwidth usage for Dropbox users, aimed at preventing the maximum limit of 1TB from being reached. This solution sends customizable alerts when bandwidth consumption reaches critical thresholds (e.g., 75%, 90%) and provides detailed daily or weekly reports. This way, users can proactively manage their service usage, ensuring continuous access without interruptions due to exceeding the bandwidth limit.110Views0likes2CommentsMy folders were moved to another location on Dropbox, but there's no relevant record.
Hello, So I have a odd one I came in to work this morning and went to look for a sub folder and it was not there, after a moment I noticed that the hole folder was empty all my Folders in it where gone, when I stated poking around I found them all in another folder. But when I look at the logs I can not find any record of the move. Has this happened to any one else or know what may have happened.10Views0likes2CommentsMy shared links can't be viewed properly (the content isn't showing).
Hello team, When I click on the 'share' button on a folder to generate a link, and then view the link, I can't view the database properly. This persists on all browsers, and devices including mobile. Find attached an image.67Views2likes7CommentsThe shared link I sent out truncates the names of files included. Can I adjust the name column?
I’m trying to share a collection of files with non Dropbox users by sending them a link. The files have long names. When the recipients click on the link they get a list of files with very shortened names, such that they cannot tell at a glance which file is which. On the other hand the column showing the size of the files is much wider than needed. Is there any way to give more space to the names of the files? Also, why is the file order seen by the recipients not the same as the order I see in my own Dropbox folder?23Views0likes4Comments
