Trying to decide whether to upgrade my account and get out of OneDrive, to avoid having my files accessed by AI. I have been unable to find an answer to this question, unless there is a clear statement and verification that files are protected, instead of upgrading I will delete all my files and close my Dropbox account.23Views0likes1CommentWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.20Views0likes1CommentDoes Dropbox have location-based sharing restrictions?
Hi, I’ve embedded a Dropbox shared folder into my application and enabled the "Anyone with the link" option for both viewing and editing permissions. However, it’s been noticed that several users are unable to access the training files (shared folder). Specifically: For the "Team India Production" team, some members have access to the folder, while others do not. Similarly, this issue seems to be affecting members of the US team as well. This has led me to wonder if there are any implicit access restrictions in place—such as location-based permissions—or other factors affecting access. I want to give permission for all staffs I’d like to know: Does Dropbox have any location-based restrictions or region-specific permissions that could explain this issue? Are there any known solutions to ensure consistent access for all users, regardless of their location? Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!38Views0likes3CommentsOne of my shared links can't be accessed without logging in to Dropbox first.
Hello, I recently uploaded a .mov file into my new dropbox. I copied a link and made sure in the permissions that anyone with the link could view the video. I made sure it worked by opening the link in incognito and on another friend's device. The link worked as intended. However, today, the link says you need to sign in to protect the file. After signing in on a different account, it says you need to request permission to view the file. If I copy the "sharable link" on my original account again, this link works. But I need the older link that worked yesterday, under the SAME permissions, to work and allow anyone with it to view the file. Has anyone had a similar issue?Solved47Views0likes6CommentsHow can we change team admin with no access to the current team admin's account?
We have a standard 5tb account and have a no access as the creator/admin refuses to hand over the log in. We are being told that there would be an additional cost to ADD or CHANGE admin to our business managers email address. Is this BS?30Views0likes5CommentsOption to lock a file/folder granting view-only access for individual plans
It would enhance ransomware protection if folders or files could be marked as "read-only", where only a change/rename/erasure is password protected. Read-only is supported for teams, the request is for individual users. Password protection is also available but is for any access - which makes it uncomfortable when reading data; In my case, and I assume for many private users, 99% of the data is never changed once uploaded - family pictures, documents etc. Motivation is to enhance protection in case an unauthorized party got access to your account and has the ability to erase your data - such as a virus or ransomware attack. So the aim is not privacy - it is erasure protection, while not complicating everyday viewing with a password for every read.38Views1like2CommentsAdding more options for folder permissions aside from "Can edit" and "Can view"
Similarly to how local network drives allow for specific permissions, I wish Dropbox had more granular permissions other than Can View & Can Edit. For instance, a user in our company has been accidentally moving, duplicating, and in very rare instances, been deleting files and folders from other user's projects. Thankfully folder activity exists so we can see who was responsible and when it happened, but I would still love to be able to restrict users from doing certain actions in specific folders. Especially for those files you don't want deleted or moved.28Views0likes4CommentsA user can't verify their email in order share files on their account
Dear Support, I have a customer who is experiencing issues accessing the "Shared" folder in Dropbox. He is presented with a prompt that says "Confirm your email" along with a button labeled "Send confirmation email." After clicking the button, he receives an email with a "Verify your email" button. However, when he clicks this button, he is redirected back to the Dropbox homepage, and nothing has changed. If he navigates to the "Shared" section again, the same message, "Confirm your email," appears. Also when he trys to share a Dropbox file as link he is meet by the prompt "You cannot share until you have confirmed your email address." I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.25Views0likes4CommentsHow can we restrict who can share to groups?
I'm currently facing an issue where certain users in our Dropbox environment have the ability to share things in Team folders that they have access to. While the sharing feature works great for sharing with specific other employees, sometimes people share to the Everyone At group where it results in hundreds of employees receiving email notifications that something has been shared with them. It is usually immediately unshared, but then that just creates a lot of confusion. For some context, we are in the process of migrating from local shared folders to Dropbox, and all groups other than the Everyone At group are IT-managed through AD sync. We would also like to keep the Everyone At group of possible for us to share out any documents to all employees if needed. Is there a way to restrict a users ability to see groups, or to restrict their ability to share to them?16Views0likes1Comment
