Using Dropbox (version 212.4.5767) on iMac (OS X Ventura). App works fine. But when I pull down the menu from the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, it *always* says "Syncing 4 files" I have no idea what these files are. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Dropbox app. And still the 4 files are syncing 24/7. When I "view sync issues" it gives no info. How can I determine what four files are involved here?39Views0likes12CommentsIs Sequoia 15.1.1 compatible with Dropbox?
My Macbook Pro (M1) is pestering me to upgrade to Sequoia 15.1.1. I'm currently running Sonoma 14.7.1. I'm hesitant to upgrade because I don't want to run into any issues with Dropbox. Have others had a smooth upgrade to Sequoia 15.1.1? Thanks!162Views1like10CommentsI can't activate File Provider on my Dropbox desktop application on Mac OS 15.1
I'm trying to debug a problem a user of my macOS application has, where it won't read files on an external drive handled by Dropbox. The files are in `~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox/`, which I assume means that she is using Dropbox with file provider support. I'm not a Dropbox user myself, but I'm trying to replicate her setup in order to investigate the problem, so I've downloaded the Dropbox app and signed up for a free trial. However, when I try to activate File Provider support, it says “You are not eligible for the new Dropbox for macOS on File Provider at this time,” without giving a reason. This is on a 2020 M1 MacBook Air with Sequoia 15.1. Does anyone know a way to get around this? And even better, does anyone have an idea why my app sometimes is unable to read her file?101Views0likes8CommentsMS Word no long "likes" documents stored on external Dropbox locations (Mac OS 10.15 Sequoia)
So I recently updated from 10.14 to 10.15, and everything looks good except for MS Word. I keep my Dropbox file on an external drive (formatted as Mac OS Extended Journaled), and whenever I try to edit and save a Word document to the Dropbox location, I get a dialog box with "Check to make sure the removable drive containing this file is still available." It then renames the file to a temporary file name (e.g. .~WRD1234) and then brings up the File Save As dialog box. The whole thing repeats if I try to give it a new name. I've reindexed my Dropbox folder, removed the MS word cache, etc. etc. I'm on client build v212.4.5767. I did not see this behaviour with previous versions of Mac OS, so I'm assuming something broke with the update. Anyone with any ideas?44Views0likes8CommentsMy Dropbox is stuck syncing/indexing 65000+ files on my Mac device.
My dropbox is syncing nonstop, states 65000+ items are indexing. It's been like this for over a month, and it's been affecting my ability to copy files and folders, both to local storage and external. I tried quitting dropbox and reopening several times. Even updated and restarted my Mac several times but the number of items kept going up. Dropbox for mac: menu bar icon is gray and when I click it the animation starts but my desktop app never starts or connects. This has now happened on two macs. I've tried everything. Can still access my dropbox on the web. I want to upgrade but not when this is happening. Help!Solved56Views0likes7CommentsFeedback on sync icons on macOS
I've been in contact with support about what I was convinced was a bug. But they are suggesting it's expected behavior. Before, if you had a folder with some files still syncing to the cloud, the icon on the folder would show a sync-in-progress-icon. Now it's showing a green checkmark. This makes me very confused every time. I think the icon on the folder should reflect the fact that not all files have been synced to the cloud.10Views0likes1Comment
