Since chaning to a mac mini pro, dropbox has stopped syncing with the new device. Some files started to sync, but now after a couple of months most folders are unsynced and files unavailable locally unless I use the web interface. Sequoia 15.3 build 24D60 Dropbox Version 216.4.4420 (216.4.4420) The app states 'You don't have any sync issues' yet it also shows 104,333 files yet to sync20Views0likes3CommentsI don't see any option to make my folders online-only/offline on my new Windows 10 computer.
Hello, I just changed my PC. I had Dropbox installed on the old PC in windows 10, I could see ALL folders and only sync in my local PC folders/files useful, which were downloaded on demand. Below, the gray folders were not stored locally, those with the green check if, we can see the options Make accessible offline, and store online. On my new PC, windows 11, impossible to find the same configuration, knowing that my Dropbox folder is 2To, and my local disk 256Go, I can not and do not want to sync everything. The ONLY option that I found that comes close to it is selective synchronization, which synchronizes only the folders I select, and only those are visible in the explorer. But that is not what I wish. If I need a file from the dropbox, I would have to open dropbox, go back to selective sync, find the correct sub folder, and add it to the sync, NOT POSSIBLE. The Make accessible offline, and store online options are no longer apparent, so the Dropbox application seems to no longer offer this solution. I checked the 2 Dropbox versions installed in the configuration panel on the 2 PCs, they are identical: 216.4.4420 MY GOAL: to find a complete view of the whole dropbox in the windows explorer, even if everything is only available online, and open the files I need to make them available locally. Thanks for your help, I didn’t find how to do it. Can be an older version?13Views0likes1CommentMake available offline doesn't download files
I have installed Dropbox on a new Laptop a couple hours ago. I already created a new file and it got uploaded just fine. I'm also able to download individual files, when opening it. But when I right click on a file or folder and choose "make available offline" none of those files get downloaded. The green arrow appears, but the cloud with the arrow is still there next to it. I Haven't found a single file that got downloaded. Dropbox states, that everything is synced and that there are no sync issues. I have already reached out via Chat, but I'm not getting anywhere there. I doubt there is a real person operating it. I hope to get some help here.24Views0likes5CommentsThere's a .canary file causing syncing issues on my Dropbox app.
Hey all! My local backup software failed out yesterday - it reported that there was a file in use in Dropbox. I poked around and found that ".canary" in my Dropbox cache was marked with the syncing icon (round blue arrows). There was also a file "canary.enabled", but that one seemed to be static. When I delete the ".canary" file, it simply reappears. This file doesn't show up on my online account (natch). I can see it on my two linked computers, my desktop (Win 11) and laptop (Win 10). Both are running app version 214.3.5104. I have a basic (free) account. Anyone know what's going on with this canary file? Why can't I delete it? Where did it come from? I'd like to clear it so my local backup will run, but I'm also concerned that this might indicate a security issue, as I have no idea where this file came from. Thanks for anything you can offer!409Views0likes24CommentsDouble-click on the Dropbox icon opens the Dropbox folder with ALT enabled
Since days ago I have an strange behavior: If I double click the dropbox try icon (Windows 10) the dropbox folder opens maximized, this is the normal behavior, but some days ago this changed: now the dropbox window opens maximized, and immediately it is restored like you press maximize button, so the window changes its size and position, and then the keyboard shortcuts appear in the menu bar like I pressed the ALT key. This is so annoying, how can I restore the normal behavior? Is this a bug?81Views1like12CommentsNo option for "make online only" when I right click my files
I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5. I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-click on the folders, however, I'm not getting the option from the drop-down menu to make the files online only. Any suggestions? Thank you!Solved10KViews2likes56CommentsWhy does Dropbox for MacBook keep 'removing' itself?
Hi, Myself and multiple users in my organisation have an issue where the Dropbox installed App on our MacBooks 'removes itself. By this, I mean, Dropbox will still be installed, we can navigate VIA finder, however we are suddenly unable to open the files. When we navigate to Dropbox on the menubar, the icon has been removed, but the space for it is still there, when clicking it, it pulls up the Dropbox pop up as normal. When we go to share files we are presented with the options that can be seen below. What we have to do is redownload the Dropbox installer and reinstall Dropbox. When the install is done, we dont need to do anything else, no resyncing files etc. It picks up where it left off.. Really weird. This is happening for people on different versions of MacBooks, different versions of Dropbox etc. Any advise?62Views0likes8CommentsOnline-only settings not available under my app's preferences. What can I do?
I have Dropbox plus with V216 on windows 10 and options for online-only and smart sync do not appear under the sync tab of preferences dialog, I am only shown an option to correct incompatible characters for file names. I have tried restarting and reinstalling Dropbox but problem persists. At the moment, every folder I sync is available offline on my desktop and I am out of space.14Views0likes1Comment
