Hello, I’ve been a Dropbox user for many years and have always been very satisfied with your service. However, for the past few days my Dropbox app on macOS has been stuck syncing around 1.8 GB of data (approximately 2,900 files). I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app twice, but the problem persists—and indeed seems to have worsened, as now the entire Dropbox folder is syncing extremely slowly. New files aren’t uploading at all. For reference, I’m using a MacBook Pro (2017) running macOS Big Sur (version 11.7.10). Could you please advise on any further steps I can take to resolve this? I’m happy to provide additional details if that would help. Thank you very much for your assistance.72Views0likes12CommentsEnable create and rename folders/files on MacOS Dropbox application for admin users
After a recent dropbox update, at the top level, admin users are unable to create and rename files on their desktop dropbox application for Mac users (OS version: Sequoia 15.3.2). This slight change has made it more of a hassle to use the desktop app, it makes it appear obsolete to be honest. My team needs a number of folders to created frequently as we get new cases quite frequently. After the new update, as the admin user, I have to navigate to my web browser in order to create a folder and then come back to my desktop app to add all the relevant documents into that folder. If I make a mistake in the name of the folder, I can't change the name of the folder I have to go back to web browser, find the folder and then change it from there. It is such that even as an admin user on my computer, when I go to unlock the folder at the top level to give me read and write access, it automatically switches back as it is something that has been enabled from the software and not the user end. I could see the justification for having this restriction for non-admin users but for admin users whose job description requires the creation and modification of top level files, it has added an additional step in work flow that is cumbersome. In the past, all these could be done directly from the desktop app. I would like to request that the feature be put back as it was. The new change is not user friendly at all.111Views3likes8CommentsThe Dropbox right-click options are gone from my Mac's Finder.
I recently changed the location of my Dropbox folder and now I no longer have my right-click menu. Dropbox is running and everything has been synced. I've restarted and reinstalled dropbox and it did not fix my issue. Latest version of Dropbox: 221.4.5365 MacOS: 15.460Views0likes11CommentsI have 2 Dropbox folders. Can I delete the hidden one?
In my Mac Mini there are 2 DropBox folders, the first, which I normally use, under username (267GB); the second, hidden, under username, library, cloudstorage (321GB). Why are there 2? Can I delete the hidden one? Thanks everyone.40Views0likes7CommentsI'm unable to ignore a specific folder on my macOS (not File Provider).
I want to ignore a specific folder from syncing. So I read through help.dropbox.com/installs/dropbox-for-macos-support . Frist I tried the GUI approach: but on right-clicking the folder no "Do not sync" menu entry shows up (only "Copy link", "Share..", "Transfer a Copy...", etc). Also I tool to the Terminal approach: I typed xattr -d com.dropbox.ignored ~/Dropbox/path/to/my/folder but I get "No such xattr: com.dropbox.ignored". I certainly have Dropbox installed and it's syncing stuff properly. What can i do to ignore that folder? Many thanks for your help in advance. We are currently unable to use Dropbox on Windows Surface Pro Devices with Snapdragon Processors as they do not allow for Online-Only files. This causes the entirety of their files to sync to the device and renders the device unusable as all disk space is consumed.104Views2likes7Comments
