Is the email: em-s.dropbox.com legitimate? [Answer: Yes]
I have received an e-mail telling me of a new document available for me in Dropbox. The e-mail is from an address that ends with " em-s.dropbox.com ". Can anybody confirm that " em-s. " is a valid ad...
Hi Everybody,
I can confirm that these emails were sent from the Dropbox domain and are not harmful. This is one of the official domains Dropbox uses to send out emails. You can find the full list of domains here: https://help.dropbox.com/security/official-domains.
You can safely ignore them, though there was no negative impact to your account if you did click through the emails. You should not receive anymore emails of this type.

I received an email notification that there was a "Shared File waiting for you". When I went to click on it, it was a file shared with me from 2020. Is there a reason I would've received that notice today about it?
- I also received a suspicious email from this address, stating:
“Just a heads-up – you've got a shared file waiting for you. Click the button below to check it out whenever you're ready!”
After *not* clicking the button and checking my Dropbox account through the app, there hasn’t been a new file for over 4 months. The email looks official enough but isn’t quite the same design/layout as other Dropbox messages I’ve received.
This is the only time this address has ever sent me an email. I’d send screenshots or email support but on a basic account those unfortunately don’t seem to be options. It really feels as though this warrants a closer look from your security team.I received the same email:

I got the same email. When I checked my dropbox, there were no newly shared files:
- I’d appreciate it if we were able to forward this email to Dropbox support and/or confirm it was actually sent from the Dropbox team. A preview of the link looks as though there’s a redirect happening in the URL that leads to a sign in page- even though I’m signed in already. In the meantime, leaving this as issue marked as “Accepted Solution” is misleading and a potential security risk.
I have also received this email in the last hour... same text and no file when I log in to Dropbox.
Received the same email a few hours ago.
My google search brought me here as i was concerned it was a scam - no new files in my dropbox.
Very odd...
I agree, I want to email someone at Dropbox too as I also just got this email and am worried it's a scam or a virus.
I also got it - definitely concerning and I wish there was better communication from Dropbox

Hey there scarbleu & Al_Simmons , I just wanted to mention that this email seems legit since this is an official domain of Dropbox in the email you received. I just received the exact same email notification to be completely honest.

Exactly! But if it's legit, then why isn't there a file waiting for me in my SHARED folder? The email doesn't mention what the file is or when it was sent or by whom. Shouldn't the email have more information?

I just received an email with the subject heading "Files shared with you". The body of the email says: "Just a heads-up – you've got a shared file waiting for you. Click the button below to check it out whenever you're ready!"
The email doesn't say who the file is from. The email seems like it's from no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com, and if it really is, then I know the email is legit at least. But when I got to my actual dropbox account, I can't see any new files or folders shared with me. I don't want to click on the link in the email, but I don't know any other way to verify whether this is legit or not. I would normally just delete this and not worry about it, but this may be from a couple different clients I'm working with, and there are a number of different reasons that I don't want to reach out to them to ask if this is from them.
Is there a way to determine if the email is 100% legit? Why doesn't it say who the shared file is from? If it's legit, why can't I see it under the "Shared" folder of my dropbox.com account? Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!
I got the same message and was in a similar situation and am waiting on something from a job I'm applying to and hoping to get and needed to know if it was something from them regarding the interview. I checked my Dropbox first before clicking it. The link did also take me to my account. Nothing but old notifications, though. Maybe just a glitch since it seems to have happened to several of us today.
Same here. Received August 25 with a legit Dropbox addy (although I never use Dropbox) and absolutely no info on sender.

Thanks for replying. I have no idea what the files are that have been shared. The email gives me no information about what what shared or when. Should the email contain identifying information?
- I suspect and hope this was an internal error & there are infact no files
- I did. Funny thing is, it was a file from someone I no longer communicate with and I had previously deleted the file.
- I received it also. Took me to a folder I thought I had deleted and shared with someone I hadn’t communicated with in years. Didn’t look for the file, unshared and deleted folder straight up.
I just received an email from dropbox saying...

It appears to be from a legit drop box email, but I find it odd that there is no other information such as who the sender is.
Is the only way to get more info about this mystery file to just login and check it out?
- Hi DropBox,I got an email today from no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com indicating that I had gotten a file that someone shared with me but it didn't indicate the sharer's email address. I would never click on that link so I logged in because I am not expecting a shared file at all and was surprised by this notification.While logged in after that with my email address I use for dropbox, I did not see any recent file tthat had been shared with me. The last thing under "recent" was a long time ago.Was this a spam email or how do I see the most recent thing shared with me? Again when I look under recent shared files that last file was dated 2022.Thank you!Thanks!

I did so but cannot find any new file. The most recent is from 2022. I have tried everything listed in the left column under Home. Where else would I find this new file?

What am I missing? Is there a technical thing I'm not picking up on (I'm a relatively unsophisticated user but have used Dropbox pretty often over years)? I received an e-mail inviting me to open a shared file but when I log in into my account there is no new file !
The (supposedly) dropbox e-mail address being this one :

I didn’t click on it at first and when to log in directly on the Dropbox page in my browser : there I found not race of a recent shared file (only a bunch of old ones).
I finally tried to click on the link in the email and I arrived directly in my dropbox-already-logged-in user page… so it seems it wasn’t a hoax after all but a disfunctional mail from dropbox ?
