I'm using a Basic Dropbox account, and discovered that some shared folders were accidentally deleted by a user 60 days ago.

The info in the Help Center indicates deleted items on a Basic account are kept for 30 days, but are they permanently removed after 30 days, or if we were to upgrade to a plan with a longer restoration window, would we still be able to restore those folders and documents?

Hi @aarons1, and welcome to our Community.

Just to clarify, are they the owner of these shared folders or are you the owner instead?

Other than that, I’m afraid that upgrading to a different plan wouldn’t help much in this case, as the new recovery window won’t apply retroactively, but from the moment of the upgrade.

Let me know more info, though.

Hey @aarons1 - thanks for clarifying that for us.

While we can't really promise anything concrete, would you like us to open a ticket for you so that we can have a further look internally?

Let us know and we'll use the email address that's linked to your profile here, on our Community.

Hi, aarons1

Unfortunately, once the 30-day recovery window has passed on a Basic account, the deleted files and folders are permanently removed from Dropbox. Upgrading to a plan with a longer restoration window (like Dropbox Professional or Business) will not restore files that have already been permanently deleted after the 30 days have passed.

Sure Walter, I know it may be a long shot, but would appreciate if you could double check!
