Hi, I experienced the oddest situation. Thursday 11.7.24 I opened and worked on 3 excel files which I work on EVERY month. Saved them all of course when finished. Today 2 days later 11.9.24 I go to pull one up and whaaaat? All 3 files have May 2014 dates and data that only goes through April. These files have been saved every month. I know they have as I pulled them up 2 days ago and just added data. Files had data through Sept-24. I checked version history, no help. I checked activity, that does not even show them as being opened. Another file I opened for the financial statements in a different directory did save properly. This has really spooked me and I've lost all faith in DB. Help please! thank you, RussSolved83Views0likes3CommentsCannot delete folder that was transferred to me when another user left the "Advanced" account.
Our plan is Dropbox Advanced (for a team of 12). When a team member left, their shared files were transferred to me to organize. Everything has been since deleted or copied elsewhere from these files, and yet there is one empty folder that will not delete. When I look at the permissions on the folder, I am the owner and it is shared with no one else. But when I try to delete the folder, I just leave the "Shared" folder rather than it being deleted. Is there a way to remove this empty folder from our files?248Views0likes4CommentsHow can I permanently disable the "delete for everyone" prompt?
How can I permanently disable this "delete for everyone" prompt? I have to delete old files daily for work, and this message is a major hindrance. It doesn't happen if I take the time to sync the file to my hard drive, but that is a ridiculous workaround when I'm trying to completely delete a file. This needs a "don't remind me again" option. Am I missing some way to turn this off?I can't delete a large folder due to "1 item couldn’t be permanently deleted" error.
I get this error when trying to permanently delete a folder in my trash. I checked, as suggested in the other discussion about this, and the folder is not shared (this was the problem in the other discussion). In fact, I am the only user on my account and have zero shared folders. I believe the problem is because the large amount of files within the folder, there are 37k, but I could be wrong. I have tried to delete again, as suggested by the error message, and from a different web browser (chrome, edge, and firefox), as suggested in the other discussion, all to no avail. I can not open the deleted folder to select files to manually delete, all though even if I could then it would be too tedious due to the large number of files. In general, I would really appreciate a clear all trash button or even better, an option to completely turn trash off.Solved24Views1like3CommentsDo files sync to a computer after getting deleted?
Here is the reason I ask: I have about 10k files in my Dropbox (on web). I am currently syncing with a computer (on desktop), but it says the status is downloading about 800k files. My only guess, is it is some how syncing deleted files as well? Or is it something else, or is my guess correct? I would like a solution to this, because obviously it takes a long time to sync 800k files.25Views0likes4CommentsHow do I disable the "Delete file for everyone" message?
There are some old threads on this but couldn't find anything recently. A client with around a million files in Dropbox is migrating to SharePoint- not specifically because Dropbox doesn't work but because the overall M365 environment works better for them. So I'm scripting synchronising by folder to SharePoint using robocopy. However, when I then delete the folder in Dropbox, I'm getting the prompt as to whether to delete for everyone. This is going to pop-up several hundreds times as that's how many individual top-level folders they have. It's not like one prompt appears for all the individual deletions - it's one prompt per folder deleted. I've been testing the script and maybe deleting a folder (sometimes containing 5,000 files) every minute. But the delete prompts are only occurring every 5 minutes or so, sometimes longer. I assume that's because Dropbox is deleting the first folder (which takes 5+ mins for that many files) and then moving onto the next folder How do I disable this prompt? I suspect I can't (doh!) so I might have to consider moving the folders to a "Deleted" folder which I assume won't trigger the prompt.99Views0likes2CommentsAfter an update of the mobile app, I cannot find the "recover files" option.
Hi! Two days ago I updated Dropbox on my iPhone to version 402.2.2 and today when I wanted to recover a deleted file I couldn't find this option... 😟 Now my Account tab where this option was looks like this:84Views0likes3CommentsOnce I upload my files with camera uploads, can I delete the local ones?
Once I successfully upload my photos to Dropbox from my Camera Roll on my iPhone and iPad, can I delete those photos - or some of them - from my devices (to free-up space) and if I do, what happens to them? Thanks!Solved173Views0likes2Comments
