Sharing a file requires a Dropbox account to view?

I designated a friend to view my file by adding her email; she received the link but says she can't access without opening a dropbox account. Is that true?

Hi @BernardD, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If you're sharing a file directly to another user, then they would need a Dropbox account to view and access it.

Could you try sharing a link to the file instead to see if this helps?

Keep me updated with any progress!

Sharing link with someone without Dropbox account asks for login.  This is contrary to Dropbox information? I have 3 screenshots that say no Dropbox account is needed. I will not use Dropbox until this login requirement is dropped.  Requiring all 25 people I'm sending a .mp4 to login is disgusting.  Screenshot 2024-07-07 at 10.02.32 AM.png

You don't need an account to access a shared link. If you're sharing the file directly, an account is needed, but one is NOT needed for a view-only shared link.
