Correct the 'sharelink' description in the Linux commands documentation
The table at https://help.dropbox.com/installs/linux-commands#What-Linux-commands-are-available-on-Dropbox says, about the sharelink command: sharelink dropbox sharelink FILE This prints out a shared link for FILE. FILE Absolute path to FILE ...But that's not correct. FILE doesn't have to be an absolute path, it can be any path (relative or absolute) that points to a file in the Dropbox folder. For example: dropbox sharelink $HOME/Dropbox/MyDocument.odt Outputs a share link like https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/$IDENTIFIER1/MyDocument.odt?rlkey=$IDENTIFIER2&dl=0 cd $HOME/Dropbox dropbox sharelink MyDocument.odt Outputs the same share link cd $HOME dropbox sharelink Dropbox/MyDocument.odt Still the same share link as the previous two commands (Also, side note, what's the point of providing a post editor with the ability to insert tables and code snippets, if this is going to happen when we hit "Publish"?) Dropbox public links have been suspended for generating excessive traffic
I have tried to download a large file shared with me from a client a number of times and every time it is about to finish the folder gets corrupted and I get a suspension from Dropbox? Why is this happening? I am not the owner of the files I am trying to download, and I am pretty sure the owner of the files pays for the service, so why is this happening?
If I move a shared document, will it also get moved for the owner?
A co-worker shared a doc with me. I'm using dropbox on the web. When I'm editing this doc I have an option in my sidebar that reads "Give this doc a home" with a "Move to Folder" button under it. I'm not very familiar with dropbox and I don't want to do anything that is going to relocate the document from the perspective of the guy who shared it. Yeah I know that's unlikely but I can't take the chance and I can't find any information on this anywhere. Can someone confirm that this will only alter the location of the document in my own folder structure and will not in any way alter the location from the perspective of the owner? Thanks in advance,
Error "We have paused your sharing activity. Your files may contain phishing items".
When I try to share a folder I get the following error: "Unable to share file: Error in call to API function /2/sharing/add_folder_member: We have paused your sharing activity. Your files may contain phishing items." I have tried to find solutions online but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me? I can't even contact support. Thank you very much
File requests: Option to edit both the name of requester and description
Hi all! It would be great if we had a rich text option when writing descriptions for our file requests. It would also be great if I could change the name that's sending the request so it can come from my client and not me personally. Here's an example where some line breaks and HTML markup would be super helpful!
Search and sort through images with facial recognition
I’m in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyone’s photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. Dropbox you are killing me... you give me notifications that we have hundreds of links shared, but no bulk way to remove them. What's worse? While I can delete the thousands that I made over the last 3 years, I CANNOT DELETE FOR TEAM MEMBERS WHO HAVE LEFT. If you give me the warning there is a security issue of shared links, then have a quick resolution for it.
Cannot delete a shared folder (of which I am the owner). The site keeps glitching.
I cannot delete a shared folder or any files in it (I am the owner). It has some large files in it and nobody needs them anymore. The website just keeps glitching and not letting me unshare the folder or delete anything. IS THIS A SCAM TO FORCE ME TO PAY MORE???? Not cool, Dropbox. Let me manage my situation, please!!! As a starving artist, I do not have extra dollars to give your corporation. Also, you could at least have someone available to HELP ME OUT with this without asking me for more money to upgrade to "eligible for customer service" status. B.S. Come on, dudes....
