Shared Files
204 TopicsDropbox public links have been suspended for generating excessive traffic. Now what?
I have tried to download a large file shared with me from a client a number of times and every time it is about to finish the folder gets corrupted and I get a suspension from Dropbox? Why is this happening? I am not the owner of the files I am trying to download, and I am pretty sure the owner of the files pays for the service, so why is this happening?90Views0likes12CommentsHow can I prevent team members from sharing or downloading the data to use them as their own?
I am planning to start a work account with Dropbox, but my profession revolves around highly valuable data. My main concern is whether other users with access to the shared Dropbox account can download files without permission. If they do, they could potentially use the downloaded data to run their own business and generate revenue, which would be a serious issue. Is there a solution to prevent unauthorized downloads or ensure better control over shared data? I would appreciate any guidance on this.66Views0likes4CommentsOpen dropbox file/folder links open on desktop
Hi there. Love Dropbox. I moved our whole team to it from Google Drive much to all of our delight. The one hiccup that keeps coming up (was also an issue with Drive, but would be a game changing new feature from DB) is sharing links. Our team uses the desktop app to work with files directly in finder, but we share links to files and folders on slack and in email, etc... Right now we click a link, it opens the browser as expected, we find the file path in browser and then follow that path in finder. That seems like an awful lot of work when we have a direct connection between our finder and dropbox in the app. Perhaps the website could provide a link that connects to the desktop app, opening the folder/file in finder or windows explorer. Seems like a reasonable option to me, but what do others think?22Views0likes1CommentPublic links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic.
I have received an email a couple of times saying that Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic, the first time I was able to unban the account clicking on the link, this time says "Unable to unban account", What can I do? Thank you23Views0likes5CommentsThe option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing.
Just like others have shared, the option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing. I needed to upload some large files to an organization's dropbox, which is owned by the organization. I am not the owner of any of the individual files or folders yet I still can't remove myself. I also am technically out of space so I can't add the last file I need to for this folder -_-... I am thinking if I can remove myself and then re-add it, I can add that last file and be done with it. I don't need access to it regularly, the whole point is transferring these files to this organization.32Views0likes8CommentsIf I move a shared document, will it also get moved for the owner?
A co-worker shared a doc with me. I'm using dropbox on the web. When I'm editing this doc I have an option in my sidebar that reads "Give this doc a home" with a "Move to Folder" button under it. I'm not very familiar with dropbox and I don't want to do anything that is going to relocate the document from the perspective of the guy who shared it. Yeah I know that's unlikely but I can't take the chance and I can't find any information on this anywhere. Can someone confirm that this will only alter the location of the document in my own folder structure and will not in any way alter the location from the perspective of the owner? Thanks in advance,48Views0likes3CommentsError "We have paused your sharing activity. Your files may contain phishing items".

Hi all! It would be great if we had a rich text option when writing descriptions for our file requests. It would also be great if I could change the name that's sending the request so it can come from my client and not me personally. Here's an example where some line breaks and HTML markup would be super helpful!37Views0likes2CommentsSearch and sort through images with facial recognition
I’m in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyone’s photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.497Views6likes4Comments
