Re: Trying to install on Linux Mint

Trying to install on Linux Mint

I have a brand new installation of Mint  I'm trying to install Dropbox.  I have Dropbox running on 2 other machines.  I downloaded dropbox_2022_12_05_amd64.deb.  When I try to run the install I get a pop-up window that says "Error Dependency is not satisfied libgtk-4-1 (>= 4.8.0)".  I installed libgtk-4-1, but still get the same pop-up.  How do I proceed?

Thanks - JR

Hey @John Row, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Did you make sure your device meets the minimum requirements as outlined here?

Also, are you installing it from this page or this one perhaps?

Any additional information or screenshots are more than welcome!

Walter,

Thankyou.  I downloaded the Linux 64bit.  Untared it, now what?  When I Googled "how to install dropbox", this page didn't come up.  Now how do I actually install it?  I'm sure the instructions are out there somewhere, I've just not been lucky enough to bump into the right page.

Yeah..... I've managed to now get the package installed. I'm now tripping up getting the files transferred from the Windows file system across ..says the Linux partition isnt ext4, which it clearly is.....

Could you send us a screenshot of the exact message you're getting so that we can have a visual too @TheOmnisis?

Hi @TheOmnisis,

For an easy way to check what partition/FS type is in use, you can run following in your terminal:

stat -f ~

Is the result expected? 😉 If you have difficulties understand it, post the result (or screenshot) here.

Hope this helps.

PS: You may need to tune the path used if you have changed your Dropbox folder path and it's no more the default one.

All fixed 🙂
