The pen icon for using the Apple Pencil is inactive within the mobile Paper app, any ideas?

Hi, I have iPad pro 10.5 & pencil (1st gen). The pen icon is always inactive in the app.

    Hi ugRoss - happy 2020 and thanks for using Paper!

    As a first step, could you re-install the mobile Paper app on the affected iPad and let me know if you're still getting the same result?

    Let me know when you get the chance and we'll take it from there.

    Sorry to hear about this mkabischev. 

    Can you let me know if you're running the most updated version of your iPad's OS and our Paper app's as well?

    We'll take it from there once you get back to me with this piece of information!

    It seems I have the same issue as @mkabischev. I can see the icon but it's always disabled.

    iPad 11 iOS 13.3 / Apple Pencil 2
