Dropbox on mac setup for beginners

Can anyone point me towards a beginners guide on setting up Dropbox for on macbooks please (laptop & desktop) please ?

I have  successfully installed dropbox, all file directories can be seen in Apple's filemanager Finder programme, but I can't see any dashboard-type control to set up & tweak Dropbox itself?

In particular, I am trying to ensure I do not save files on my laptop, I just want online-access from there to mimise hard drive space, but I do want to save files on my desktop which has more hard drive memory available.

Hey Buzzfan! Welcome to our forum.

If I got it right, you’d like to access your desktop app preferences, correct? If yes, you can take a look at this Help Center article.

Now, when it comes to your laptop, you can remove your Dropbox folders from your Finder with selective sync. This way, you’ll only be able to access them online via this device.

When it comes to new files that are being added via the Dropbox website, you can choose the "Online-only" option under "New files default" here. This is to make sure that new files won't sync locally on your laptop in the future.

As for your desktop, if you can see all of your files within your Finder > Dropbox folder, then you should be all set there.

Let me know if you have any further questions, though.
