Figuring out my old Boxcryptor account?
I was recently reminded that I had an old free Boxcryptor account that expired on January 31. I couldn't remember the password, so when I was warned about the termination I couldn't log on to Boxcryptor to figure out what I had there. I hadn't used Boxcryptor since 2014, and I couldn't find anything related to Boxcryptor on my current computer or among my Dropbox files.
Then today I found an old Windows 7 laptop that I used up until 2014. I haven't touched this PC since then. When I go into File Explorer on it, I see a folder for Boxcryptor with an icon that makes it look like a remote drive or something. Inside that folder, there is a directory for Dropbox. This appears to contain all my Dropbox files that existed as of 2014.
I'm trying to figure out what this means, and how to deal with it:
-- Does this make it look like I placed a copy of my Dropbox files into Boxcryptor, which was stored on the Boxcryptor site? Since I didn't remove this from Boxcryptor before the January 31 termination date, can I assume it was (or will be) deleted by Boxcryptor?
-- My main priority now is not to let anything happen that could disturb my current files on Dropbox. I don't expect to use the Windows 7 PC regularly, but it might get turned on now and then (though as a precaution I disabled its network connection). Can I just delete the Boxcryptor app and directory tree on the Windows 7 PC without causing any undesired effects to anything else?
Hey Frank O., thanks for posting on our Community and happy Friday!
Could you check your Dropbox account online and see if you can find any trace of this folder, be it in your homepage or even your events page?
Also, is Boxcryptor showing in your account's Connected Apps tab perhaps?
When it comes to your Windows 7 device, is the Dropbox desktop app running and syncing your files there?
Any additional information is more than welcome, Frank.

Thanks for the suggestions, Walter. I don't see anything related to Boxcryptor or a Boxcryptor folder on my home page, the Events page, or Connected Apps on Dropbox.
As for the Windows 7 machine, Task Manager shows both Dropbox and Boxcryptor processes running. However, as mentioned that PC is disconnected from the internet, so those processes can't sync to anything external.
I'm still thinking of deleting the Dropbox and Boxcryptor apps on the Windows 7 PC just to ensure they never cause an issue if that PC is ever turned on and connected to the internet. The directories I'm seeing in Dropbox on that PC are quite old, so I might also go through them just to make sure there aren't any old files there I might want to make a copy of for some reason.
