Add text saying "on" and "Off" to desktop app's preferences buttons
I have been seriously confused by the buttons on the "Preferences" menu and elsewhere. Nothing says whether the button that is a black dot on a white slide means on or what a white button on a black background means. There should be text that says "on" and "off" when the button dot is slid one way or the others.

Hey there Radiodavid - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.
I'm assuming you're referring to the Dropbox desktop app's preferences menu, since there's an 'On' and 'Off' switch for settings on the website - let me know if that's not the case.
Note that I've passed your feedback on to the team internally and you can let us know if you have anything else to add.
Thanks!

I had the same question, which your answer does not answer. Does the black button with white dot equal on or off?

Yes, I am referring to the "slider" on/off buttons that appear in several places in the preferences settings.
I'd also like to add that it should be much clearer when installing that Dropbox wants to install (Aaarrrrrggghhh!!!) on the boot drive. It should not do that automatically. Most of us who have systems with SSDs use boot drives that are smaller than our Dropbox file limit, and we want to put the Dropbox directory on a larger drive. This also allows the system drive to not be slowed down by file operations in Dropbox.- RichSuper User II

The Dropbox application itself will always install to your boot drive, with no option to change it, but you can specify the location of your Dropbox data folder during the install. Look for the advanced options after you sign in during the install.

Not being able to determine the drive location for the install before starting has tricked me several times and made me have to reinstall the boot drive from a backup in both instances.
I've been dealing with mini/personal computers since the mid-70 and have gone from Bill Gates' original paper DOS in 1975 to CPM and Apple I and II and then about 42 years with PCs. This "if you don't stop me in an obscure part of the install process I will fill up your boot drive and lock it" is absurd.
