Dropbox files will be deleted on the 31st October 2024 due to new team plan
Hi, I've been using Dropbox for over 15 years, and it has been integral to helping my business grow for the past 10 years. As a YouTuber and documentary filmmaker, I find Dropbox a safe and reliable ...

Hi @Coast Cams, thanks for contacting us regarding this matter.
We appreciate your sharing your thoughts about the recent change made to the Dropbox team quota allowance. We understand your concerns that the total quota on your account would be reduced at the end of October 2024, as mentioned in the original email sent to you in November 2023, and that any data over the allowance after that date would be deleted.
As you are already in contact with the support team via email, I'd recommend continuing your communication with them as they have further insight into your account-specific details.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Hi Jay,
The email I received in November had the subject of 'Your Dropbox Advanced plan change happens November 27'. There is no mention of file deletion, just that Dropbox would give me an extra 15TB of storage temporarily.
The email says this storage allowance will be in place until the 31st of October 2024. To me, this means that on the 31st of October 2024, I will lose this additional 15TB of storage and go back to what I already had which is 160TB.
I have two months to try to save 160TB elsewhere and my rough calculation estimates that will take 18 months with my current broadband speed at work.
What I don't understand is that it looks like Dropbox identified the service abusers, but we genuine, loyal customers are about to have our lives deleted because of these abusers. It's the equivalent of putting everyone in a community in jail because of a handful of criminals and the equivalent of a kangaroo court.
My support ticket hasn't received a response since my last update three days ago, and I am no closer to getting this resolved. When I've asked to speak to someone higher up, I've been told this can't happen.

Hello there,
Helen from Dropbox here. Thanks for reaching out this.I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.
Please let me provide some insight on what will happen on Oct 31st 2024.
I understand your concern with our changing Dropbox Advanced Plan from "unlimited" or "as much storage as you need" to a capped model.
Your Grandfathered storage add-ons from this migration are due to expire on October 31st 2024 (143 TB), leaving you with 15TB.
After migration in 2023, you were be able to continue using your amount of utilised storage as at the time you were notified of the migration on Oct 25th 2023, plus an additional credit of 5 TB of shared storage, for one year (to Oct 31st 2024) (up to 1000 TB total ), at no additional charge to your current plan. This additional storage was free until October 31, 2024.
Dropbox Advanced Plan now receives 5 TB per actively used license. Teams can pool and manage their storage space across licenses (e.g. if you purchased Dropbox Advanced for three licensed users, your team receives 15 TB of pooled storage space). An actively used license is when a unique person regularly logs in and uses Dropbox. Team admins have full visibility and control over team storage space.
If from November 1st, you are using more storage than 5TB per licence, your team will be over-quota. This will affect your team as follows:- Your files won't sync.
- You won't be able to create or upload any new files and folders.
- You'll be able to view and download files and folders in your Dropbox account but you won't be able to edit them.
I‘ve taken your ticket number 24161942, so let's chat more there.I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Helen
