"This preference change link is for another account"
Dear Dropbox support,
I am experiencing a weird problem: I don't work for my former employer anymore and they gave me access to a couple of folders to my private mail adress before I joined them. I am still receiving weekly updates on changes files. If I want to unsubscribe from these messages, I always get the same error notification "This preference change link is for another account".
I don't want to have any access to the company's files anymore. I also should not be allowed to see them. The former employer should actually remove me from everything, but this is not happening, as they are so unorganized. I already red in the support section about how to delete any shared folders. But there are no shared folders visible anymore. However, a former working colleague still saw my e-mail on the list. So there is some kind of confusion. Is there really not option at all that I remove myself from the shared folders/files? I red that the administrator of the folders have to do this. But she does not do anything. I wanted to ask Dropbox support directly, but it seems that there is no other way to communicate to someone except writing a post into this forum.
One idea that I have to workaround this problem is to completely delete my account and then set it up again. But not sure whether A) this is really necessary and B) whether this would even solve the problem at all, when I want to rejoin.
Many thanks for helping me to get out of this situation!
Best,
Julia
Hey Julia77, sorry to jump in here.
Can you please take a look at your account's settings online and let us know if it's an exact match to the email address you're receiving those emails?
Also, in your screenshot it seems that you're navigating your Recents page. Could you check your sharing tab on this page as well?
On a side note, have you tried clearing your browser's cache or another browser at all since you first noticed this?

Hi Julia77, I'd be happy to help!
When you try to unsubscribe from receiving the notifications, do you get the error message that you mentioned? Can you send me a screenshot of the error message, please?
You mentioned there are no shared folders or files anymore, can I ask if you see any content, when checking into your account's sharing tab? If you do, can you try following these steps (if you haven't already) and let me know if you come across any error messages?
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Megan,
Thanks for your answer. In the sharing tab there is only one shared folder called "Familisch" which one of my family members shared with me. So I cannot take the steps that are mentions in the post.
TRC Group is my former employer.
Regards
