Sync issues with Mac OS X folder migrate

After I migrated to the Mac OS X Library/Cloud Storage I am having continous sync problems

I don't like the online files mode, I just want the folders I select to be always available offline. But files will not download, and it's always stuck in Syncing mode.

I have given full disk access to dropbox and no fix.

I have then upgraded from 13.0 to 14.0 Sonoma

Which seems to have fix the issue, or a combination of things that fixes the issue but caused other problems:

- syncing files continuisly, saying that I have edited some files which I have not
- symlinks are marked as conflicts ??
- syncs generally slow

What is up with this ? I have not had problems with Dropbox before the migrate folder and now it's not stable for some time now.

example:

I have not actually edited anything from here

also symlinks ( `ln -s` on Unix to create )

appear as conflicts now

Hi there razorflash, sorry to hear about your syncing issues

Could you clarify if the desktop app is stuck at the same file or if it's syncing or giving you different errors in your menu bar?  Also, what is the app's version?

As for the new desktop app for MacOs on File Provider, you can have a look here.

If you have contacted our support team about this issue since you first noticed this, please let us know your ticket ID as well.

Any additional information is more than welcome!

it's really bad - it keeps syncing and saying up to date

      then syncing again

then maybe at random it started reindexing all 200 000 files

      look at this recording

I'm sorry to hear about the sync issues you're facing with Dropbox on Mac OS X after migrating to Library/Cloud Storage. It seems like you've encountered a few challenges with the sync process. Here are some steps you can try to address these problems:

Selective Sync: To ensure that only specific folders are always available offline, you can use the Selective Sync feature in Dropbox. To do this, right-click on the Dropbox icon in your system tray, go to Preferences > Sync, and then click on "Choose folders." Select the folders you want to keep offline, and unselect the ones you want to be online-only.

Upgrade Dropbox: You've mentioned that upgrading to version 14.0 Sonoma seemed to help. Ensure that you're using the latest version of Dropbox, as updates often contain bug fixes and performance improvements. Check for updates regularly.

Check Symlinks: Dropbox may handle symlinks differently. Ensure that symlinks you've created are correctly pointing to the intended locations. Symlinks can sometimes cause attitude conflicts if they're not set up correctly.

Conflicts: Conflicts can occur when a file is edited or changed simultaneously on multiple devices. Review the conflicted files and choose the version you want to keep. Dropbox appends "conflicted copy" to the file name to help distinguish it.
