I have edit permissions on some folders but I'm getting an error editing or renaming files
I have a set of folders which were shared with me. The owner gave me edit permissions, and tried to give me all possible permissions - but I cannot edit or rename or change any of the files.

The owner went through all of the shared ID names and again indicated edit permissions, and then it worked.
Not sure what the issue was, but seems resolved - sorry for all the trouble, thanks for all the suggestions.

Yes, access to parent folder - and other sub-folders & files keep getting added.
Thank you.
Not sure about account type - I will check.

Thanks for the additional info and screenshots, guthrie.
What do you see when you try to perform the same actions on dropbox.com?
As for the desktop, if you click on the "view effective access" option, are you able to change these permissions, so there are no X's?

Online Dropbox.com, the rename, Delete and move options are grayed out on the file.
In Windows, the view effective access is a view-only item, not editable (previous image).
On Windows;
One can select the properties/permissions,
which also displays permissions.

Thanks for all the screenshots, guthrie! I’m guessing you’re having similar issues no matter the file you try to edit within the shared folder, correct?
Did you also have the chance to check with the owner and verify their Dropbox plan?

Yes, thanks - he has Individual plan,
and yes, for any file.
Should I go through support channel, and then someone could look at the situation and files?
