Photos uploading sideways
Portrait photos have today started uploading sideways. Has never done this before and was not like this yesterday. Today photos are sideways. Are these still a back up of original photo?

Same problem here. Photos are orientated fine on my PC, but when using the app on iPhone or iPad many of the photos are now orientated off by 90 degrees. Can there be a fix for this please? I have thousands of photos, I need to be able to display them as I did with the app a few days ago (and had for many many years!)
- agpwpntExplorer | Level 4It’s only been since yesterday that this is happening. All previously uploaded photos look okay on mine. Something has changed in the last couple of days. Does anyone from DB ever read these and offer solutions?
- agpwpntExplorer | Level 4I tried taking a picture with my iPad thinking it may just be my iPhone 11 but that photo is upside down when it loaded to Dropbox. Any photo you take since yesterday is the wrong orientation.

Same problem, I am glad it's just not me. I'm a novice at this.

I started having an issue this morning. After backing up photos, I noticed that portrait shots are showing as landscape and videos are not showing up in the order that they were taken. As a test, I uploaded the exact same files to Google Drive and they show up correctly, portrait show as portrait and videos are in order. As another test, I went into a photo on my phone and rotated it, saved it, reopened, rotated back to the original position, saved, and then uploaded to DB, and it showed up correctly. I did the usual fixes like updating to the latest version, restarting, etc...but no luck on fixing the issue.
I've been using DB for years and have never had this happen. In fact, I backed up photos yesterday and everything worked fine. There have been no changes made to my iPhone at all. Any ideas on a solution?
- LiftingUnicornHelpful | Level 5I have exactly same problem. All ok yesterday. I would like to get it back to how it was Asap

I had the same thing today. I uploaded several photos to a new folder that I want to share and on my PC they are the correct orientation. When I open the DP folder online they are all sideways! I can't share this with people when they are like that. Why do they change when you look at the photos online but on the computer they are all fine.

If I can't get this to work right I am looking for another program where I can write captions on my photos so people know what they are looking at when they access the folder. Any recommendations?

I've just bought an iPhone XS and installed Dropbox. I had the iPhone 8 before. When viewing the pictures in my folder they suddenly have a different and wrong orientation / rotation.
If I look at the same picture from my iPad the picture has the correct orientation / rotation.Any help would be much appreciated

I uploaded several photos and when I went to view them they are rotated. I understand there is no way to correct this. Do you know why they did this?

I am experiencing the same issue... only as of a few days ago did it start.
I am also experiencing cropping issues.- LusilDropbox Staff
Hey FSG1 and StageScience, thanks for reaching out to us on the Dropbox Community!
I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you, I'll just need a bit more info to make sure that we're on the same page, such as:
- How did you upload these photos? Through the website, the desktop app, or the mobile app?
- Did you manually add them or was it via camera uploads?
- Do the photos look rotated when you preview them on the website and our apps?
Any additional details would be very helpful. Thanks!

I have been using Dropbox for almost a decade -- mostly to upload photos from my DSLR cameras. Very recently, when I upload photos taken in portrait mode, they show up as sideways (i.e., not in portrait mode). This occurs only within the Dropbox mobile app. On desktop and web, they continue to display correctly (i.e., in vertical portrait mode).
I have tested this with multiple cameras, and it is the same problem. So I can only assume that it's a problem specific to the Dropbox mobile app. And it has only been happening recently - like in the last couple of weeks.
Can someone please help with this?

Hey there Mood, thanks for checking in with us.
I'd be more than happy to help look into this, I'll just need a bit more info:
- Does this happen with photos you've manually uploaded or added via camera uploads?
- If you export a few photos to your mobile's storage, do they preview normally?
- Are they all the same file type by any chance?
Let me know what you find - thanks!
- agpwpntExplorer | Level 4Many people are having this issue and it started on Friday or Saturday. I uploaded a set of photos to a folder to share with my condo neighbors regarding a lobby redesign. They all loaded sideways and when people accessed the folder the photos were all sideways with no way to rotate them, I’d be happy to share the folder with you but clearly I’m not the only one having this issue. I wound up using google photos for my neighbors which worked great.
- Jfineman1Explorer | Level 3I am having the same issue. Never had this issue before now.

Same here. The odd thing is that it's random.... some portrait photos show up correctly and others rotate to landscape. Very frustrating as I can not modify the orientation!
