Automatically rename the files contained in a subfolder

Is it possible to automatically rename the files contained in a subfolder with the name of the parent folder with an automation rule

  • Thanks for the clarification. Currently, the automation feature will only allow files in that folder to be renamed.

Any files in subfolders will not be renamed automatically, so you'd need to create an automation on that subfolder specifically, though you can't select the parent folder of the subfolder in the options.

Hi mrdry, thanks for messaging the Community.

It is possible to do this with the automation feature, using the 'Set a rule that renames files' and then 'Parent folder' for the renaming rule.

You can place it before or after the file name.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

      Yes, I understood that.

I mean, can I automatically rename not only the content of the folder but also the content of the subfolders?
