I'm trying to delete and download my files from Dropbox, but I'm unable to do so.

I have deleted all my connections and I still get this message.  What am I doing wrong?

I just want to download everything and move to another service.  I find dropbox far too complicated nowadays.  I have been trying for weeks to get my stuff downloaded.  I want to delete some files in dropbox to make it smaller first but it wont even allow me to delete files.

  • Hi, The issue you're experiencing could indeed be related to the Dropbox Backup feature.

Are you able to disable or delete your backups from the backups page perhaps?

Hey stinchcomber, hope it’s OK to jump in. Do you see any files that you want to delete here? If yes, you can delete them this way.

Other than that, you can download your files with these steps (please keep in mind there's a 250GB downloading limit from the website, so if you want to download content larger than that, you'll need to do so in batches).
