I have an old file, which was created in 2017. This file has been in my dropbox since then and was not changed until today. Today, by accident, I've overwritten that version with some unintended changes to the file. I immediately tried to recover the old version of the file, but the 2017 version is not available. I have a Free Plan. From my understanding, Dropbox has always been able to restore files to the previous version, regardless of when it was last saved (in this case, in 2017), as long as the current change was made within the last 30 days. If a change was made more than 30 days ago, then, the old version would be lost. Since the only change was made today, why can't I recover this file any more? Has something changed in the way Dropbox works? Thank you for your help!31Views0likes3CommentsI deleted a backup, but it is still using storage. Why?
Hey all, I recently deleted a backup of an old external drive from the Windows client. This should have freed up storage in my account - however, it is still using the same 608MB, even after waiting for two days. There are no files in the "Deleted files" section either. What do I have to do to free up that storage?22Views0likes1CommentCan I select all files uploaded on a particular date?
As part of an attempt to move a Photoshop Elements catalogue, I moved thousands of photos out of Dropbox for safekeeping, offline so they'd stay intact on other computers and in the cloud. Then after installing the program I did the work to prepare for the photos to be indexed. Then I moved the photos back into Dropbox but forgot to take the computer offline, so all 27.5K+ files have now synced to the Cloud. But because they had the same names I now have the originals and copies. Is there a way I can identify all the Dropbox files that were uploaded today, or any particular date, so I can delete only the copies?18Views0likes2CommentsHow can I get my corrupted data back?
Dropbox has gone whaco. my files are weird, some missing some strangely corrupted. What has happened and how can I retrieve /extract my stuff? Had files for over a decade. Lenovo windows 10 support was failing so I bought a mac. Moved files to Dropbox. got notices of nearly full. stopped adding files. Can no longer open the Lenovo (says: missing operating system) Access from macbook now scrambled and weird. How can I get my data back? I',m devastated245Views0likes3CommentsI no longer see the option to leave a copy of the shared folder I'm unsharing to its members.
My question is what happens when I "remove" a share email. And what happens if I just delete the folder without removing the shares first? In previous versions of Dropbox I was able to un-share a folder (I am the owner) with the option to let other users keep the contents. I could then delete the folder without removing their content. Today (March 2025) I am not finding those options. It appears I can only remove shared emails with no option for them to keep their copy of the files?Solved84Views0likes15CommentsAccount deleted by my old business partner. Can I restore it?
Hi There! I’m looking for help regarding my Dropbox account, which I’ve had for over 8 years. Recently, I tried to log in and discovered that the account has been deleted. This account contains a significant amount of personal and client-related videos and photos, and losing access to it has been devastating. Here’s some context that might help: Two months ago, my business partner locked me out of all accounts associated with my work email due to a messy separation. My Dropbox account was originally a personal account, created before I joined the company, and was not paid for or created by the business. At some point, I switched the account’s email to my work email, but I didn’t realize this until now. I suspect my former business partner may have gained access to the account and deleted it. I’m hoping there’s a way to recover the deleted account and its contents, as well as change the account’s email address to a personal one that I control. This account is incredibly important to me, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in restoring it. Please let me know what steps I need to take or any information you require from me to proceed. Thank you so much for your help during this stressful time.Solved75Views0likes5CommentsI've accidentally removed my personal folder from the team and I can't find it anywhere.
Hello, unfortunately as an admin I have removed access to my *personal* folder in Dropbox. What can I do? The folder can no longer be found. I accidentally pressed the Remove ALL button. (1) It deletes files I have downloaded to Dropbox for safekeeping without my knowledge or permission. (2) It installs my files to Dropbox without my knowledge or permission. I have written about this before, but have never received a reply. How can I get Dropbox to stop making these unauthorized moves? (3/18/25)24Views0likes1Comment
